    Default Turkish Earthquake 2023

The death toll is up to 34,000 right now and since there are pretty much no more chances (virtually) of survival (as it has been 7 full days and any people who didn't die in the initial collapses, would most certainly have frozen to death by now if not starved to death or died from lack of water), the work remaining is simply too uncover what they are expecting to be at least another 40,000 as yet undiscovered corpses. I have a friend who works with AFAD in Ankara and he said they did manage to get about 165,000 volunteers apart from the military to help out trying to rescue people. His coworker lost his wife and two daughters in the earthquake. I stayed in his house for one week in 2015, and that house (which he moved out of in 2019 thankfully) was partially destroyed and luckily nobody was living in it. Here is a CCTV clip of a 45 seconds it's showing an entire mountain moving up and down and shaking in Osmaniye city.

It is terrible and the death toll could be double. They have found people still alive even after 7 days which is amazing.

Earthquakes are terrifying. Been in a couple when in SD and Long Beach and would rather take a hurricane. I'm not too much of a spiritual man but the victims found this far along in fields of rubble are miracles.
