I'm fully convinced Canelo will face neither Benavidez nor Bivol end of year. I give him maybe end of 2024 and he'll call it a wrap. Think a Ryder homecoming is all about a bigger exit strategy.
Yep. They'll sell it as a Mexico-PR fight, when in actuality Berlanga isn't anything of what he was hyped up to be when he had that string of 1st-round KO's to start his career. Turns out he's nothing but smoke and mirrors. Perfect easy way for Canelo to ride off into the sunset, while avoiding Bivol and Benavidez. Canelo talks about wanting a Bivol rematch... but that's never going to go anywhere.
I mean who seriously is going to pass up an all but guaranteed highlight reel victory...something he's not had in a couple years...and oppurtunity to "re-steady" the ship against a marketable though heavily flawed PR contender. They're not signing a Berlanga in the hope he suddenly gets better, smoke and mirrors spot on. And it leaves plenty of time for a Benavidez or Morrell and or Bivol to um cancel each other out should they do something crazy these days, like take a major fight. Man, this sport can make a man skeptical.
