Default David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th

Looks like it's a done deal for Benavidez 27-0 (23) and Andrade 32-0 (17) to square off in Las Vegas for the wbc 168 'interim' strap on Showtime ppv. Not thrilled about the ppv part but this division is long overdue to see these top names sort it out. Interesting timing as it's a Friday night card in the States the day after Thanksgiving in the in what many have already determined will be a long holiday weekend. Really like the style mash up and early on, picking Benavidez to grind him down late rounds. Let's have it!

About time Andrade did something(to he fair he was set to fight saunders I think before a failed drug test), unfortunately I don't think he's that good and will get beaten up but at least he's fighting proper guys for titles now.

david b ran from david morrell. demetrius has the style to cause david b problems but at thirty five he might have left it too late

Good to see two undefeated contenders taking on one another putting more pressure on Canelo to face the winner.

The fact that it is PPV is normal now which is sad for boxing.

Can someone please explain in layman's terms what an "interim belt" is?? Been a boxing fan for many years, but have never fully understood the intricacies of these belt designations. Especially with the WBC. Odd that it would be for ANY kind of WBC 168 belt, since Canelo is WBC's love child, and 168 is his division. Which of course only adds to the confusion. Not that belts mean much anymore. That train left the station a long time ago.

On the fight itself, might as well. Might as well have someone fight legitimate fights at 168 while Canelo goes prancing off, looking for more undisputed, undersized meat. Oh... and please spare me the "Charlo is taller than Canelo" pictures. Charlo knocks out about half his opponents at 154 (not a great knockout rate)... and now he's facing a wannabe cruiserweight with a granite chin. Pleeeese.... Canelo can wade in with his hands down with no danger of getting buzzed. Did anyone else notice the difference in muscle mass at the faceoff? Canelo looks massive next to Charlo. Anything less than a TKO win for Canelo should be considered a moral loss.

Benavidez vs Andrade should be an excellent fight.

He is and has logged an impressive 1 single win in 5+ years. Looks like coddling Charlo and letting him keep the belt was even more pointless than initially thought. Who knew.

If this comes off its strictly about his last name and brother.

I just hope Benavidez doesn't come in fat again & blow a possible shot at Canelo
Or worse struggle with the weight & end up losing to Andrade

It's a legit and grounded question. But I think Benavidez has to know Andrade stands as the literal last rung of a possible Canelo clash. Gather all forces and get the impressive W then it's all on Canelo. To duck or not to duck. Also do NOT want to see a Plant scenario where he was beating the dust out of Plant late and an intrusive ref that broke up serious momentum more than a few times.

jose was at fifty four getting beaten by danny garcia last year but his last fight was at middleweight so i expect the wbc will come to the party with a ranking for jose if the fight with jermall is actually signed

I'm warming up to this fight. It's about time we see Andrade in a good fight where he can showcase all of these skills he says he has. He has always thought more of himself from since he was in the 2008 Olympics where he failed to win a medal. Most Americans wanted him to win a medal... and he felt he deserved to win a medal. But this is good for him now.

I've never had it in, had a dislike, personally for Andrade. Just started to see him as a prime example of bad career decisions and mediocrity. All the way back to refusing to fight Jermell. A very frustrating talent who settled for less as long as he banked some ridiculous purses signing with Dazn. He arguably has not looked 'explosive' since ko'ing Willie Nelson. But he's also the perfect jinx to absolutely screw up the perfect plan for Benavidez. And he's a southpaw who has noooo problem with boiling down the pace of a fight and "stinking" out a fight to nick rounds. He's very good at it. It's easy as a fan of Benavidez to say oh this is a waiting demolition job for him, but we've seen best laid plans go ass end up so many times. Heavily favoring David but mentally ol boy better be on top of his game and not thinking all he has to do is connect to win easy. Smart consistent hurtful combination pressure. Not some caveman leading to frustration stuff. Looking forward to this one.

Good analysis. Me, I have a one-track mind.

I see this as a perfect opportunity for someone to derail Benavidez from his Canelo plans. If Benavidez thinks too much ahead, he could fall into that trap. My "Canelo hater mind" tells me Canelo is lighting candles and praying for an Andrade upset victory, which of course would get Ginger off the hook from having to ever face a true 168 pounder at this stage of his career... not to mention the danger of screwing up the Hollywood script already being written for him for when he leaves boxing.
