The fight did not go the way many anticipated. Many thought it would be technical and even boring, but it was riveting and at times dramatic.

Usyk was the aggressor from the start and took the centre of the ring. He had Fury on the ropes forcing him to fight when many thought Fury would put the pressure as the bigger man.

Fury found success using his footwork, boxing skills, speed, creating space using his height and reach where he started to catch Usyk who nearly got stopped in round 6.

It was Usyk who came on stronger in the second half of the fight when many though Fury would as the bigger man and even stop his opponent.

Remarkably Usyk adjusted, forced through the pain, picked up the pace and landed quality punches that Fury could not avoid and was left stumbling across the ring.

Ref did the right thing and give a standing count and not stop it.

How Fury recuperated after that beating is beyond belief to win the last round on the judges cards.

The right man won so the points system works.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

A few around saying fury got schooled, not necessarily on this forum, that's utter bollocks.

    20,000,001 actually

I pay for the internet so whatever it shows is free

Can you imagine Michael Buffer now ?

"And now. For thousands in attendance and MILLIONS illegally streaming around the world"

Wake up people... Do not be that frog that slowly boils to death... We let corporations take things that do not belong to them. When Radio and television came out, the waves belonged to the people. It's the people's collective air space. We give away our precious resources to these corporations... WE PAY TAXES to maintain those resources.

If you are putting on a production in a Park for Shakespeare, If I buy a ticket I can come in, but I can certainly look from where I am walking. NOW PAY ATTENTION! If you come into my place and demand to put the production on my roof you cannot forbid me from going to my roof to watch! They done been trying to convince people they add value for generations now! Our airways belong to us! I can try to receive anything I want in such air space.

Both men made an insane amount of money and all the ppl involved in the fight did too, yet they complain ? Of course, there'll be millions of illegal streams - How they expect ppl from the poorest countries to pay ?

    Anyway........

Mr Tyson "No man born of his mothers !!!!!" Fury.

    Really ?

Even William Wallace was shouting "Mercy"

So BIG John "The Fighting Man" Fury FINALLY got to work on Tyson's corner and it resulted in his first loss.

Pretty sure I heard John fury telling Tyson to "Hit him on the chin".....No Sh*t John. Shouting over Sugar Hill the whole fight was embarrassing and disrespectful. Tyson needs his dad for the training camps. John is a good motivator, a mouthpiece. Fury mentioned that his training regime improved significantly with his dad's return, describing it as militaristic. His dad isn't a yes-man; he'll push Fury and tell him when he's not training hard enough, unlike others who might be more reserved but they should rely on Sugar as his sole corner man.

Having said that, that was probably the best possible form Fury could put in at this stage and he knows it. He was bang up for this fight. He knew the threat Usyk presented and had 2x back to back training camps. Now it's a question of does he want or need that rematch money. Can he put in a better performance than that at this stage ? Fury now has the opportunity to avenge a loss. Which all great champions have done.

Also Fury is a businessman as much as a boxer these days. So he ain't turning down this 80M-100M Riyadh rematch. Sh^t with 9 kids in the house I'd imagine you are trying to invent reasons to gtfo of the house so a 3mo camp is a great excuse to not be around.

As to the fight. Look all these big "Super Heavyweights"are terrified of imposing their size on a smaller opponent with decent skill. Scared of running into a counter, scared of actually getting out-boxed and made a fool of on the inside, scared of running out of gas.

The hell is the point of being 6'5 and 240+ if you're too scared to actually use all that mass to bully a smaller opponent ? It's ridiculous. Everyone wants to just jab, cover up, back away, throw a few flurries, clinch, jab, clinch , repeat and they refuse to open up or take chances.

You’ll only beat Usyk by doing two things

    1. Power Punching
    2. Pressure

The boxer to beat Usyk is somebody who grinds him down, on the front foot looking to get up close and force him to work. Not looking for a short war but a longer war of attrition. A Chavez Sr type of fighter.

Three heavyweights would be a nightmare for Usyk

    • Joe Frazier
    • Mike Tyson
    • Rocky Marciano

These pressure fighters are always edging in and looking to corner you. You make three steps to his one staying away.

Tyson's insane footspeed made him very quick at closing distance and it's was his footspeed that stopped him getting nailed on the way on in, not some spectacular head movement. Where as Frazier's constant head movement and variation of his guard were in some-ways technically superior than Tyson's pressure fighting. Marciano was somebody grinds you down on the front foot looking to get up close and force you to work. That's how you deal with Usyk.

Usyk has always had more issues with smaller pressure fighters that come in LOW than he has when he has an elevated target he can take aim at. Derek Chisora probably showed the way you beat Usyk and Chisora is more will than skill. Usyk not only effortlessly deals with much larger fighters, but in some cases he excels when fighting them. You have to fight him on the front foot.

Do you think Usyk would of pushed Foreman, Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe around the ring ? Even guys who aren't ATG but were good at their peaks. Do you think Usyk would of pushed David Tua, Tommy Morrison, Ron Lyle, Ike Ibeabuchi around the ring ?

Fight front foot, very aggressive and go to the body. Middle of the ring...Hagler-Hearns style. Prime Mike Tyson or David Tua would beat Usyk (IMO) Take him out in first 7 rounds. You have to go in there looking to KILL Usyk.

But to do this fighters have to up their Cardio against Usyk

    1. If you can't run a 6 minute mile don't even think about fighting Usyk.
    2. If you can't row 2000m in under 7 mins don't even think about fighting Usyk

Because the pace Usyk pushes takes even hardened men off their game and Usyk isn't a huge puncher but he can punch. He doesn't sit down on most of his punches and just makes contact. When he does punch with authority it comes as a surprise. I thought Usyk won the fight by one round. It was close but it's hard to erase the optics of a smaller guy beating a bigger man all over the ring, corner to corner, and the big guy never looking fully recovered after the beating.

The Usyk v Fury fight gave more credibility to AJ's efforts against Usyk and AJ fought a fresher, younger Usyk. Usyk doesn't have the same legs. He fought this fight like the Dubois one. Pressure without a step back from the first second. He's now a just as much of swarmer as he is a boxer. He know uses guts and toughness a lot more to overwhelm his heavier opponent than he does his skills.

And the controversy in the 9th ? I can see both sides.

    1. Never in my decades of watching boxing have I seen a situation like that, ever. A fighter unable to defend himself is about to get finished; the referee steps in to stop the last devastating blow and save the defenceless fighter from further punishment—but he gives an eight-count instead of waving the fight off.
    2. But Paulie and Chris Algeri said that the fans forgot the rules because the refs forgot the rules. If a fighter falls into the ropes, the Ref is well within their right to issue a standing 8 count. The ropes held them up. In fact, what the ref did was commendable because another ref could have jumped in too soon and stopped it.

And I gotta say what was the deal with Tyson shorts ?

Its not like they moved up, they were practically pulled up to his damn armpits all fight. But then his boobs hang where his stomach should be. And I'm guessing his stomach is hanging somewhere near his balls.

I used to read "Asterix the Gaul" books as a kid

Tyson Fury reminded me of Asterix's sidekick Obelix

I also used to read TinTin Books books

In terms of knowledge I'm a JEDI on the TinTin and Asterix books series......that would without question be my specialist subject on BBC Mastermind. Little childhood Segway there

But I noticed Tyson's shorts myself. It definitely gave him an advantage. The protector was pulled up just high as the trunks, which made it more difficult for Usyk to actually hurt Fury with body shots. It also illustrates how hypocritical Fury and Warren are, when you think of all the shit they threw at Usyk for (according to them) wearing his protector too high during the DD fight.

And Fury saying post fight "Usyk won coz people felt sorry for his country at war"

Post fight interviews for guys that have lost to Usyk have been so terrible.

He just cant have a normal post fight speech from his opponent can he ?

Salute to Usyk, he earned that one with no help. Height and reach disadvantage and being around 2 stone lighter is fucking incredible. Being a 2 weight undisputed is impressive. But when that second weight class is heavyweight it puts you into a different stratosphere. It’s the uncapped division. The division where you might have to slay a giant. Neither Crawford or Inoue have had to slay a giant. Usyk had to slay 2 of them. Legend.

I was the one who said it first. I said it live in the stream. You could see the punch sent a strong effect up the artery that goes from the nose underneath the eye. That's why people get black eyes when they get punched in the nose or the nose breaks I should say. If it wasn't for that one punch on the tip of his nose he would not have been affected like that and the ninth round would never have taken place the way it did.

But that's boxing one punch can change everything. Credit to the Ukrainian for fighting a guy as gigantic as the Gypsy King and beating him even though I have it scored 114 to 114 a draw. There's no question that it was a draw if you score the second round even 10 to 10 and if you give Tyson Fury 3 4 5 6 7 and 12 and you score the 9th round 10 to 8 and give the rest of the rounds to the Ukrainian one eight eight nine 10 11 then it is a draw and that is the way it should have been scored.

It’s a big word “if” isn’t it? If my Auntie had bollocks she’d be my uncle. And if Granny had wheels, she’d be a motorbike!
Now I tried to be super generous to Fury and had it 115-113 to Usyk. I gave a 10-10 for the 2nd playing Devils advocate, but Usyk won the 3rd . And that’s where your logic falls down.

Fury hairline nose fracture, ruptured blood vessels under the eye, effects equilibrium and vision, thus the 9th round happened. Usyk got lucky and hit the very tip of his nose where that blood vessel ends, causing that subcutaneous hemmhorage up to and under the eye of Fury.

periorbital ecchymosis. are dark blue or purple bruises They occur when tiny blood vessels under the eyes bleed into the skin, usually after an injury to the tip of the nose.

It does make me smile Fury camp moaning about the verdict, when Ngannou beat him and so big John McDermott.

I think it was bothering him as early as the 1st. Not sure about breaks and medical reports, if any have actually been released, but you can clearly see him start pawing at it in round one after Usyk sticks him a few times. Also appears there was no broken jaw for Usyk as he held a press conference just fine. Then again maybe that's just his mettle

other fighters have won fights with worse injuries than tyson. tyson had to be saved by the ref or he would have been knocked out by a middleweight who wears an earring

Any "fighting man" who wears his trunks like a senior granny ma wears her support girdle has no business criticizing someone's attire

tyson's got nowhere to go, he either gets knocked out by oleksandr in the rematch or knocked out by aj

Call me absolutely nuts, it wouldn't be the first...but if Wilder sparks Zhang and is declared "back"

I rule nothing out as well as gullibility of some fans. Or a powerbroker from Saudi with a fetish for recycled heavyweights and bottomless coffers

Yep he got lucky. Lucky punch . I thought that’s what boxers are supposed to do ? But no , he just closed his eyes and got lucky.
Funny because the punch stats say that Usyk got lucky a lot, he was twice as accurate as Fury.
What’s the saying? The harder I work, the more luck I get.
