Default Christian Mbilli v Mark Heffron Sat. ESPN+

Top ranked Spr. middle Mbilli 26-0 back in action in O' Canada vs 30-3-1 Mark Heffron out of the UK. Also mammoth heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov is returning after suffering his first loss in brutal fashion to Agit Kabayal late last year. Makhmudov is fighting Miljan Rovcanin who we last saw stateside being battered by Jared Anderson in 2022.

This card is just trudging along and it's really not all that spectacular. Still maybe 2 fights from the co main. Can't really tell as the announce is not leading up really. Right not 38 yr old Rolando Wenceslao Mansilla 19-14-1 is letting 5-0 middleweight Moreno Fendero pound away to give him rounds.

Mansilla is a seriously tough side of beef in absorbing repeated hard body shots along the ropes in the 6th and final round. Clearly just wanting to hear the bell, young Fendero hammered him like a nail but settles on what should be a shut out on the cards. 60-54 x 2 and 60-53

19 year old Wilkens Mathieu 8-0 knocks 17-12-2 Przemyslaw Gorgon down about 101 times before the ref stops it in the 4th round. oof.

Rodolfo Gomez Jr 14-7-4 from TX. taking on Mehmet Unal 9-0 Lt hvys. If there's risk of an upset this may be it

If the 1st is any indicator forget about a possible "upset" . Unal jumps Gomez and rocks him early, focuses on body and near bell lands a big right hand that had Gomez sliding off in a bad way.

Gomez steadies and gets to work early 2nd. Doing his own body work and gets in a couple long loopy rights on Unal. The defense of Unal is pretty much nonexistent but taking some clean shots so far.

Unal doesn't like it to the body. Now ref checking Gomez who takes a couple shots called low from Unal. Gomez actually getting some uppercuts working end of round, little bit fresher.

Big left hook high on front temple rocks Gomez bad last minute of 4th. He was swaying and double stepping but trying to realign. Unal steps to him and uncorks again and Gomez ties up leading to ref to slowly step in and wave it off. Gomes pissed off initially. Decent scalp for Unal in 10 fights.

On what planet do we hear the names Arslanbek Makhmudov and Mike Tyson mentioned in the same sentence . Apparently it's planet Top Rank announcers. Mike had genuine intimidation early on. His brutality rep and skill followed him right out of the gym and straight into the ring. Again, this is 'size' being overstated as if a complete equalizer

Not sure this will be the confidence rebuilder and defensive improvements Makhmudov needs but safe to say it'll be a rather short fight

Rovcanin wins the first 2 minutes getting some clean shots on him and then gets absolutely caught and dropped hard. He lands across the bottom rope before getting up and finishing round. Walks right back into Makhmudov and starts exchanging with him . Interesting

Rovcanin with the busted nose. Makhmudov still as slow as a sun dial with feet. Lands a massive right hand on the tip of the chin and Rovcanin goes down like the building fell on him! I think his eyes crossed. Fight over!

Mbilli and Heffron to the ring. Wow. Just a few minutes before the 4 hour mark for on a one sided showcase card. It seems like every fight card today is waaay too long . Let's hope Heffron does more than "give it a go".

And Heffron down off a left to the body and finished KO1 before Mbilli breaks a sweat . A single shot, if you blinked you missed it.
