This isn’t a dig at you because you’ve just come up with the info, which I appreciate. But that is shit value for money. After Scull (personally no problem with the fight). and Crawford , (again personal opinion ,not a fan of this fight, but plenty are) if there is no Bivol, Beterbiev or Benavidez, I can’t see who else is a worthy challenge for that money.
I’d be intrigued on yours , and anybody else’s thoughts on who the 3rd and 4th fights in the deal could be. Perhaps I should start a thread. Like I said, not having a dig at you, just curious.

Yeah hey... I can appreciate the love fest, but as usual I'll be the outlier here. I do have a problem with Scull. Ok, he's a title holder. Other than that, anyone take a look at his resume? Oh I forgot... that's taboo. We can call out shit on some occasions, just not others. How convenient to have a layup like Scull holding the other 168-pound belt.
Then comes a bloated Crawford, the ultimate challenge for Canelo.
Of course the Bivols and Beterbievs of the world will be given lip service. It would look bad if they weren't at least mentioned. But by that time Canelo's age will come up as an excuse, and the 4-fight farewell tour will be magically truncated to 2 fights.
Everyone else can ride the circus train if they want. I'll enjoy the view from the cheap seats.
I seriously forgot to mention Benavidez. LMAO!
I must've gotten conditioned (just like the rest of Canelo World) that David Benavidez doesn't actually exist.

i'm not sure turki & the saudi's are at the point yet where they are worried about losing money. i could be wrong but i doubt they've turned a profit on any card they've put on yet. & if by some chance they have, it was lost on other cards. for the saudi's this is mainly pr work. turki might have long term interests in the sport but like the other sports they are picking up, i personally feel it's the novelty & added promotion of their nation. i say all that to highlight that there is a host of fighters that turki & canelo can bring out. as master mentioned chris eubank jr & hamzah sheeraz names have been brought up, jermall is still around, conor mcgregor wouldn't surprise me & if jake still wants to work with them who knows. we've seen turki happy to make tyson fury v francis ngannou so circus fights won't surprise me. i don't think the saudi's are interested in quality for their buck. if it was my money i would have done william scull in may to unify, because the artur v dmitry winner probably needs to defend the ibf or get stripped. christian mbilli, then the winner of artur v dmitry two after they defended the ibf so it would be undisputed v undisputed & david b as the final fight of the four but that's trying to take into account some of the boxing politics. taking out the politics & my money on the line i'm doing christian mbilli, david b, artur v dmitry winner & finally jai

that's if it was my dime & no politics

Canelo lives a charmed life... LMAO.
The Rocky Fieldings of the world keep falling in his lap.Other than that, he goes to light heavy, targeting a bewilderingly meek Kovalev in a fight that left most pundits shaking their heads in disbelief... and Kovalev himself years later alluding to some eyebrow-raising circumstances under which the fight was held. Then he scurries back down (before having to face another light heavy)... and lo and behold there is the (at that point) undefeated Callum, who proceeds to obligingly (and maddeningly) fold like a lawn chair in front of Canelo.
168, of course, is Canelo's wheelhouse... and he's prospered there. No issue. Only that he keeps wanting to fight for bogus cruiserweight titles, but that's another story.
Here's the thing with Scull. Yes, he is a championNo doubt about that. Hence my opinion that Canelo lives a charmed life. Here is a sitting duck with a 168 title who Canelo is sure to blow away with a KO victory. Something Canelo sorely needs to bolster the beating he's taken from his persistent ducking of Benavidez.
At least we agree on the Crawford fight.![]()
Hate to be that guybut how was this not the intended path all along and predictable. I've seen so many people talking about "Scull who" and glossing over it's the very same Scull who the Ibf ordered on Canelo last year, but the belt got dropped by Canelo for a Berlanga match. Shit is priceless. Canelo forfeits the belt (or is stripped depending on what you believe), lets Scull literally hold it for a while and now suddenly Scull is worthy because he holds the trinket, Canelo needs a date and "well he's a champion at least"
. They are looking at this as a glorified tune up w/ benefits. It's all about the hardware on display. The marketing of yelling "Canelo multi time undisputed" going into his next fight as such. Opponent is secondary and I'm sure Scull is a nice guy.
Bigger issues with Turki I think and the whole gamesmanship with Paul involved as a swerve. Set the bar low once again to point of fan backlash with Jake Paul circus, fake announcements and all this misinformation put out by Turki, the Ring and all involved only to reach some midnight earth shaking deal. They lied on Eddie and said the fight was flat off. Lied on Boots Ennis in the process saying he was facing Bud. Now everyone's like "at least it's not Jake Paul" in May. It's all very rinse and repeat. On a side, when do we announce dates and specific time frames left wide open like this. A four-fight deal and the only one I'm certain of is now Scull. Meanwhile Bud sits on the bench inactive over another year waiting on September. It just feels all very backwards. If anything, wtf isn't Bud fighting Scull to at least bring a belt to the table?! Quite the circus of its own doing.
Crawford is wrapped in cotton wool, training in the gym, putting on some weight and ready for slaughter in September. There is no risk of him facing anyone in the interim.

Damn.
Agreed on SO MANY points. Not facing a Scull the first time and now having him as an opponent gives Canelo the chance at that "multi-time undisputed" you mentioned. It's not as sexy defending against the pedestrian Scull, as taking a belt from him in a championship fight. After all... Scull's now a (cough) champion.
The other point is setting the bar low, then swerving out of it. After the brief uproar over a possible JP fight... the calculated response is relief that it's now a legitimate champion in Scull. By comparison, the unworthiness of Scull is glossed over.
This is worthy of a marketing PhD.
There are some hardcore fans that I normally respect which argue that this is a legitimate super fight and that we should not be so critical. They just can not see the manufactured nature of this event. So blatant and desperate and it needs to be called out.
Also Scull is much of a world champion as Dubois is at heavyweight. None.
