    Default Paul Williams

    Anybody watching this

Guy's huge, about a 6'3 welter, but he needs to change his style IMO, he gives up his height way too much

Throws a ton of punches, and I usually like that, but I got to think he'd be better off staying on the outside popping the jab, throwing a left hand here and there, it might hurt his excitement level but he'd be better off as a fighter fighting a kind of Lennox Lewis style

that being said he probably handles this guy

Well he took advantage of Rios, stoppage in two, but that wasn't really in doubt, Rios' wasn't as good as his record, everytime he stepped up he got easily handled. I'm talking down the road, a change of style might help him versus the elite guys

What do you think though, I'm looking at him thinking maybe he doesn't take advantage of the fact that he's got freakish size for a welter

And I gotta wonder how long he makes welter, guy's huge

He's pretty fun to watch though

fun wo watch. but he would be more dominant using his jab. He could have used his jab and not been hit once tonight. His height he needs to develop a strong jab, a jab that hurts opponents so he won't have to lead with uppercuts, and at almost 30 and 0 he needs to develop a jab it will make life a lot easier inside the ring.

He's sorta like Thomas Hearns in terms of his height and weight.

I didn't see anything wrong with how he fought. For a rangy guy, he fights very well on the inside, bobbing, weaving and keeping his hands moving all the time. He's a real human windmill with excellent technique. As long as his chin is good I have no problem with him fighting in close sometimes like he does. He uses the jab well too, but you can't tell because he throws so many other punches too, uppercuts, hooks, etc.

I really like the guy and think he's championship material.

On the other hand, Rios looked like a bum. He was slow, soft around the middle and not toned on top. How he got such a good record I don't know. He also doesn't have much toughness. The uppercuts he took near the end of the fight weren't that big. He just quit since he was tired of getting hit.

Nothing bad was "shown" tonight. But in the future he WILL need a better more consistant jab

Never saw him fight until tonight. He's on my radar right now. Being 140-147 myself... this guy would be a nightmare if he showed up at my gym. Not only is he tall and quick, he's a friggin southpaw!
