After a terribly confusing turn of events which saw original opponent Marcos Licona taken out of his spot on the fight card, WBO super bantamweight champion Joan Guzman defeated late subsitute Joe Morales over ten rounds as the main undercard bout of the Tszyu-Mitchell light |
welterweight attraction. After it was revealed that Guzman never agreed to defend his title against Licona at the official fight weigh-in, Licona was shockingly erased from the card and Morales stepped in to save the chief support slot. This kind of turbulence seems to follow Guzman around as he has previously indulged in a highly publicized dispute with British promoter Frank Warren.
