My Prediction: Felix “Tito” Trinidad vs. Ronald “Winky” Wright.

TITO! TITO!! TITO!!! Once again, Felix Trinidad steps into the squared circle for what is his second fight in the “Back with a Vengeance” tour. As of right now, New York is buzzing and it is like the Puerto Rican day parade all over again. This Saturday we will see the classical cliche we have all grown accustomed to in our great sport.

We have a boxer versus a puncher. The boxer being Ronald “Winky” Wright, and the puncher being none other than Felix “Tito” Trinidad. Do we know that for sure? Only time will tell. I will explain.

Read on as our very own Edwin Gonzalez offers his big fight prediction before SaddoBoxing.com winds down its Trinidad-Wright build-up coverage and gets ready to bring you word on all of Saturday’s Vegas fight action.

I do think that Winky is underrated and I do give him his props. He is very crafty as well as being one of the better defensive fighters I have ever seen. However, the only “boxers” that give Trinidad problems were the ones that moved. Winky has no foot movement whatsoever. He locks his right leg in front of him and fights “out of the pocket.” Although he does use his waist and shoulders to slip the punches and that has been effective so far in his career. I am not sure if it will be effective against Tito. When you are in there with someone that has such a tremendous offensive output, you cannot be in front of them. For Winky to win this fight, he will have to use every inch of the ring, sticking and moving as well as bobbing and weaving. The question is, can Winky utilize his jab and keep Tito on the opposite end of it for twelve rounds, and not be caught? I don’t think so. Winky is not a big puncher to begin with, and keep in mind that he is moving up in weight to fight Tito. So I am sure Tito will not be afraid of getting knocked out.

This is how it is going to go down: Winky will give Tito some trouble early on. But in this fight, I feel that Tito will surprise all of his critics by showing some great footwork as well as some head movement in that ring come Saturday. It will take him a while, but as he gets acclimated to Winky’s slick southpaw style, Tito will realize that if he slips Winky’s best weapon, that right jab, and counters with a left uppercut, he can shorten the distance a great deal between him and “Winky”. Upon doing so, a patented Tito Trinidad left hook will seal the deal. Trust me when I tell you that as soon as Trinidad lands a left hook, it will be a wrap. Who has Winky Wright fought that punches as hard as Tito Trinidad? I know, Julio Cesar Vazquez, oops! Wrong. However, Wright did go down five times in that fight. Are you going to tell me that Vazquez hits harder than “Tito?” I don’t think so.

So my official prediction is that Tito will make Winky STINKY! Tito by an impressive and amazing knockout in seven rounds. And I am being kind when I say seven rounds. Don’t be surprised if it is a lot sooner. A reminder to some of the doubters, this is not the same Felix Trinidad that lost to Bernard Hopkins. Thank You for allowing me to mouth off. Good night and enjoy the fight! God Bless.
