Last night, at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton, Hatton Promotions hosted a fightnight which headlined Scott Quigg’s defence of the British Super Bantamweight Title against Welshman – Jamie Arthur.

It was a steady start from Quigg in the opener, but he picks it up in the second round and Arthur puts some distance between them. It was a good round three with both men busy and Arthur looking confident.

Just inside the first minute of round four, Arthur lands a right and left to the head and Quigg finds himself on the canvas. He bounces straight back up but – with a glance to his corner – takes to a knee to recover. Arthur ‘goes after’ Quigg and the crowd roar. Quigg seems intent on settling the score so ‘ups’ the anti. Arthur slips on the canvas but it’s a no knockdown.

After a further three thrilling rounds which sees Arthur’s face bloodied – the end came in the eighth. Arthur had taken one of Quiggs’ trademark body-shots and – having clearly felt the blow – briefly turned away from his opponent when Referee Mark Green jumped in to stop the contest.

Arthurs trainer – Chris Sanigar, was furious at the stoppage!

Quigg retains his title in an exciting, all-action contest with Jamie Arthur also deserving credit for a valiant performance.

Quiggs record now stands at 24 wins (17 by KO) no losses, while Arthur drops to 18 wins (4 by KO) 6 losses (3 by KO).

Also on the Bill, popular Leicester Boxer – Rendall Munroe, impressed with a first round stoppage of Jose Saez in their scheduled eight round Super-Bantamweight Contest. The Argentinean was on the canvas inside the opening seconds of the first round and – clearly struggling at the end of the frame – saw the contest waved off by Referee Steve Gray.

Munroe improves to 24 wins (10 by KO) 2 losses, while Saez drops to 21 wins (11 by KO) 13 losses (11 by KO) and 6 draws.

Murray goes on to get the points win 80-72. Sky Sports Statistics reveal that he landed 81 of 315 punches with 25% success, as opposed to Graterols – 48 of 248 (19% success).
