Round by Round: Jeff Lacy vs. Robin Reid.

Tonight in Tampa, Florida, hometown champion Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy took on Robin "Grim Reaper" Reid in defense of his IBF super middleweight championship. This would be the fight in which we realized that Lacy was a pretender, or the real thing. SaddoBoxing wraps up its big fight coverage of this event

with the round by round account of every punch thrown. Check out all the action as it happened, and don't hesitate to get involved in the many heated discussions happening about this fight in our forum right now!

Round one: Both fighters come out in orthodox stances. Lacy, working behind a jab is trying to work his way inside. Robin Reid is holding his guard very high and is constantly turning to his left side. Jeff Lacy lands a straight right hand, which Reid takes well as he dances away. Reid with his left hand very low, uses his shoulder to roll punches, trying to constantly turn Lacy to his left. Robin lands a shot to the back of lacy’s head, which gets a warning from the referee. The “Grim Reaper” just does not look like he is comfortable. Lacy connects with solid jabs and follows them with a right hand. Reid continues to try and keep Jeff out of range with his jab….. Reid lands a good right to the body as the round ends.

Score: 10-9 Lacy.

Round two: Both fighters come out in orthodox stances and begin to get rough. Reid sticks a stiff jab, as “Left Hook” gets inside and lands two punches to the body. Lacy continues to stalk and tries to get inside, as Robin is constantly moving to his left. Reid still seems uncomfortable and is just not in the fight yet. Robin holds as Lacy tries to get inside. Lacy stuns the “Grim Reaper” with an overhand right and lands a left to the body, as Reid wraps up and hits punches to the kidneys. Reid lands a straight right, but lacy counters with a left hook to the jaw. A lot of rough stuff as the round comes to an end.

Score: 10-9 Lacy.

Round three: Both fighters come out in orthodox stances. Robin is, again, with a high guard. Lacy lands two hooks to the body and is really starting to land to the midsection of Reid. Reid lands a right hand, and spins away immediately. Jeff lands a stiff jab, followed by a straight right hand. Robin misses with a clubbing right hand to the head. He lands a solid right hand, but Lacy lands a hard low blow, sending Robin to his knees. Lacy is warned by the referee. Reid comes back with two stiff jabs. “Left Hook” comes in and roughs up Reid. They trade left hooks, with Lacy doing more damage. Lacy comes on strong and lands to the head and body with both fists. Reid is being smothered, but lands a solid right hand. Lacy counters to the body and Robin is stunned by a hard left hook as he landed an uppercut. The round comes to an end.

Score: 10-9 Lacy.

Round four: Both fighters come out jabbing. Lacy lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook which land flush. Reid shoots a right, but eats a left hook in return. Both fighters exchange right hands, with Lacy looking stronger. Lacy jabs and follows with a solid right hand that stuns Robin. Clubbing right hand by Lacy, but Reid answers with an uppercut and a right hand. Both exchange right hands, and Reid lands some good right hands in this round. A clubbing right for Lacy lands, as Reid smiles at him. Reid lands a solid right uppercut and then follows with a low blow. Lacy lands a left hook followed by a right hand and unleashes a two-fisted attack which puts Reid on his heels. Reid taunts Lacy as the round ends.

Score: 10-9 Lacy.

Round five: Lacy comes out going to the body and Robin counters with a jab and spins away. Lacy lands two hooks to the body, and Reid comes back with a body shot and sticks a jab to the face. Lacy lands some hard left hooks that snaps Reid’s head back. Lacy lands a very stiff jab, and the “Grim Reaper” intentionally head-butts. As the referee was breaking them, Lacy lands a hard right hand that puts Reid to the canvas. It is scored as a knockdown. The referee deducts a point from Robin for the head-butt. Jeff Lacy charges hard, and seriously hurts Reid with a two-fisted attack. Lacy lands hellacious hooks to the body. Lacy rips hooks to the head and body, and the “Grim Reaper” is down again. The round comes to an end.

Score: 10-6 Lacy.

Round six: Lacy continues stalking as Reid backs away. Reid looks confused and is just trying to stay away. Lacy lands a solid three-punch combination, as Reid is not doing much. Jeff continues to stalk as Reid circles away. Robin is just holding and moving away. A clubbing right hand puts Reid down for a count. He gets up, and Lacy immediately comes on the attack landing quick, hard combinations. Reid pushes Lacy to the canvas as the round come to an end.

Score: 10-8 Lacy.

Round seven: Lacy comes out jabbing and trying to land that vaunted right hand that has been effective all night. Reid is trying to work the body, but does not commit to his punches as he circles away. A one-two punch combination lands for “Left Hook,” as the “Grim Reaper” backs away. The pace slows as Reid is just grappling. A point is deducted from Robin for excessive holding, and he is warned about possible disqualification. A lot of grappling and roughhouse tactics continue by Robin. Lacy lands two sharp, hard uppercuts, and Reid is down again. Robin beats the count, but gets pounded as Lacy is trying to end the fight here. The “Grim Reaper” holds on for dear life as Jeff lands vicious hooks and crosses to both the body and head. The round comes to an end.

Robin “Grim Reaper” Reid refuses to come out for the eighth round, awarding a TKO victory to Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy.
