Cedric Kushner Promotions put on a stellar fight card last night from New York's elegant Hammerstein Ballroom and there was intense action from start to finish. In the headliner, dubbed "The Home Coming," middleweight "Irish" John Duddy improved his record to 13-0 (12) by stopping the game but outmatched Bryon Mackie in the fourth round. The fight started out fast paced until Duddy dropped Mackie once in the first, then in the third and twice in round four from a devastating body shot. After intense body and head work from both fighters, the fight was stopped in the fourth, after Mackie could not recover from a left hook to the body. The Canadian falls to 25-12 (8) with the loss.

Reigning South African Featherweight Champ Takalani Ndolvu engaged in a war of wills with Armando Guerrero for twelve rounds, winning the vacant the IBO Super Bantamweight title. Ndolvu, of Soweto, proved to be the sharper skilled man and climbs to 25-3 (15) after succeeding in just his second bout outside of his homeland while Guerrero of Austin, Texas, loses his second world title fight in a row, dropping to 20-5-6 (11).

On the undercard, Golden gloves champion Jorge Teron defeated Terrence Thomas with relative ease during a rematch at lightweight. The action was called to a halt in round three after Teron had delivered a relentless one sided beating. The Bronx native sees his record to 8-0 (6) while Thomas decends to 4-6-1 (0)

Among the celebrities in attendance at the Hammerstein was the legendary Roberto Duran. He brought along his protege, welterweight Richard Gutierrez, who faced Edison Aguirre. Gutierrez dropped Edison in round three not once, but twice, and in devastating fashion, knocking Aguirre out in the fourth via a bracing straight right hand. Gutierrez, of Arjona, Colombia improves to 17-1 (11) while Aguirre slips to 11-4-1.

Rounding out the superb fight card were two additional bouts that saw Irish light middle James Moore climb to 4-0 (3) via a third round stoppage of Manji Conteh while super feathers Angelo Acevedo and Joe Rosa fought to a four round draw.
