Boxing Info: Prince Badi training in Boise for Roy Jones

By Boxing Press July 13th, 2006 All Press Releases

North American Boxing Organization light heavyweight champion Prince Badi "The Boxing Prince" Ajamu, based in Vero Beach (FL), already is training in Boise for his July 29th fight against five-time world champion Roy Jones, Jr., headlining the July 29th "Hold Nothing Back!" pay-per-view show at Qwest Arena.

Prince Badi (25-2-1, 14 KOs), rated No. 6 by the World Boxing Council and No. 7 by the World Boxing Organization, defends his NABO title against Jones (49-4, 38 KOs) in the 12-round main event. "I arrived here last Friday to get acclimated (to the high altitude) and situated," Prince Badi said about training in Boise. "It's going to make a difference, too. Training camp has been going very well. I really like Boise and the people here have welcomed me with open arms."

Prince Badi, of Camden (NJ), has dedicated the fight to his cousin, the late two-time world heavyweight champion Floyd Patterson (1956-59, 1960-61), as well as all the fighters from Philadelphia (where Prince learned how to box) and New Jersey who never got their big shot.

Another Silverhawk Boxing (www.silverhawkboxing.com) promoted fighter, former International Boxing Federation light heavyweight champion William "KO King" Guthrie (33-3-2, 26 KOs), arrives Saturday morning in Boise to continue training for his July 29th 12-round title bout against Luke Munsen (19-5, 13 KOs) for the vacant IBF International cruiserweight belt.

"Silverhawk Boxing believes in the importance of serious training to get our fighters as prepared (to fight in high altitude) as possible," Silverhawk Boxing president Dennis Rider noted why the Prince Badi and Guthrie training camps have moved to Boise from Vero Beach (FL).

"Hold Nothing Back!" -- presented by Xyience, Inc. in association with Sports and Entertainment Media, Inc. -- will be broadcast live in North America on cable and satellite PPV beginning at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT. The event is being produced and distributed for North American Pay Per View by Integrated Sports and will be available in more than 50-million homes in the United States and Canada via InDemand, TVN, DirecTV & Dish Network in the US and Viewer's Choice & Bell ExpressVu in Canada. The suggested retail price for the PPV telecast is only $24.95.

Tickets, priced at $50, $100, $150, $250 and $350 (plus handling fees), are on sale and available exclusively at the Qwest Arena Box Office. Call 208.331.TIXS (8947), toll free 888.330.TIXS (8497), or go on line at www.qwestarenaidaho.com.

Prince Badi and Guthrie are promoted by Silverhawk Boxing, managed by Rider Boxing, and trained by Buddy McGirt. For more information about Prince Badi, Guthrie or Silverhawk Boxing go to www.silverhawkboxing.com.
