Boxing Weigh-in Results: Barrera - Juarez - Gonzalez - Vazquez - Barrios - GuzmanBy Mark DeSisto September 16th, 2006 All Boxing Photos
The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas is absolutely buzzing with energy in anticipation of Saturday nights 3 world championship boxing matches put on by Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions. What is likely to be fight card of the year will be shown in homes around the world on HBO pay-per-view television. The main event will feature Houston's Rocky Juarez(25-2, 18KO's) once again challenging for Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera's WBC Super Featherweight Title. The two went at it in a closely contested battle back in May with the younger Juarez coming on at the end to initially have the bout announced as a draw. An error was later found in the scoring and Juarez was told about 20 minutes later that Barrera had retained his title with a split decision victory. Ever the sportsman and true champion, Barrera(62-4,42KO's) quickly granted Juarez a rematch to settle their controversial first encounter. Juarez will look to get off to a faster start this time and truly test to see if Barrera's years of thrilling ring wars has finally caught up with him. Marco Antonio Barrera = 130
