Sean McComb and Ray Moylette made it three wins on-the-trot – Tommy McCarthy won on Monday – for Ireland at the AIBA World Elite Men’s Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan today.
Belfast lightweight McComb progressed from his last-64 bout with Israel’s Almog Briga on a unanimous decision, the Irish champion convincingly winning all three rounds.
Moylette edged out Greek light-welter Alexandros Tsanikidis on a split decision. Tsanikidis took the first frame of the 64kg clash, but the Mayo orthodox claimed the next two rounds to clinch victory and a place in the last-32.
London 2012 Olympian Adam Nolan will be in action tomorrow at the 100-nation tournament.
