Citing a recent declaration born of it's yearly convention, held recently in Dubrovnik, Croatia, the WBC has stripped it's reigning Women's Middleweight Champion Yvonne Reis. The following is the relevant excerpt of that declaration.
"A WBC champion must always defend her WBC title if she fights in the same weight class division. Otherwise, the Champion agrees to relinquish his title"; Therefore, we are now declaring the WBC Middleweight Title Vacant. Currently, The #1 WBC female Middleweight boxer is now Dakota Stone. The #2 is Yvonne Reis."
40 year old Reis, 6-10-1 (0), won the vacant WBC crown on April 1 of this year with a close split decision win over Conjestina Achieng, 9-3-3- (4), at the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. Reis then contended for the WIBA Middleweight title eight days ago at the same venue but lost to that organization's champion, Leatitia Robinson, 15-0 (9), via majority decision.
