Last night in Springfield, Virgina, Oliver “The Atomic Bull” McCall continued his march on another world title shot with an eight round decision over former opponent Marion Wilson.
The two met in 2005 and Wilson was disqualified in the sixth round for holding and the veteran from South Carolina was nearly thrown out again tonight after losing two points for the same infraction.
McCall, 50-8 (36), worked behind a strong jab and had his way throughout the eight round bout, picking up the win via scores of 80-70 (twice) and 79-71.
Since losing to Lennox Lewis ten years ago, McCall has gone 22-1 (16) and the former WBC Champion may see action in June against ex-European titlist Sinan Samil Sam in Turkey.
Wilson has only won one of his last eighteen bouts and drops to 12-41-4 (5),
