On Saturday night in Cancun, ex-longtime WBC Super Bantamweight Champion Oscar Larios continued his comeback following consecutive losses to Israel Vasquez and Manny Pacquiao with a ten round decision over domestic novice Luis Cid at featherweight.
The victory sets up Larios' challenge to WBC Feather Champ Injin Chi, scheduled for May 26 in Anaheim, CA.
Also on the card, former WBC Feather Champ Guty Espadas Jr., returned to a boxing ring for the first time since a loss to Rocky Juarez in December, 2004 by outpointing beginner Perez in a closely contested split decision.
Yet another ex-WBC Feather titlist, Rodolfo Lopez, wasn't as lucky as Japanese veteran Naoki Matsuda climbed off the canvas in the first round to knock out the Mexican in the fifth.
