There was good action in America on Friday night and we begin with Mexico's Jhonny Gonzalez keeping his WBO Bantam crown with a ninth round stoppage over ex-IBF Flyweight Champion Irene Pacheco of Colombia at the Desert Diamond Casino in Tuscon, AZ.
On the same bill, journeyman David Lopez shocked hot prospect Rocky Montoya to take the WBO Latino Middleweight belt with a six round stoppage win.
At Detroit's Cobo Hall, the surging Mary Joe Sanders remained undefeated and won the IBA Middleweight title with a dominating ten round decision over the reeling Valerie Mahfood. Sanders is heading towards a showdown with Laila Ali after winning a world title in her fourth weight class.
On the undercard, welterweight Joel Julio won his third straight bout following a loss to Carlos Quintana last year, ending the hopes of the overmatched Thomas Davis with a seventh round KO.
At the Pechanga Resort and Casino, Mexican veteran Carlos Bojorquez dropped the sixth bout of his last ten via a surprising upset at the hands of New Orleans based battler Eduardo Sanchez over ten rounds for the GBU Light Middleweight title.
