The official weigh-in was held yesterday for tonight's Thompson Boxing "Path to Glory" fight card at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California. All fighters looked fit and prepared, with only one contestant, Juan Pablo Montes de Oca, failing to make the contracted weight of 145 pounds. Montes de Oca elected to pay a fine and weighed in two pounds heavier than the contracted weight.

The main event features Enrique Gutierrez, 8-0 (7), from Santa Rosa, California who is fighting Terry Wright, 5-6-1 (4), in a junior middleweight bout. Both appeared confident. In 2001 and 2002, Gutierrez was National Golden Gloves champion and one of the top rated amateurs in the country with over 96 amateur fights to his credit. More...

By Joe Ulrey April 3rd, 2006 All Boxing Results, Ringside Boxing
Thompson Boxing Promotions is establishing a reputation for putting on excellent boxing shows and the March 31 card at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California was no exception. The Main Event was for the WBC Youth Welterweight Championship and it featured two very talented and unbeaten fighters but there was also sparkling action on the undercard as well.

Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley successfully defended his youth title against Eli Addison. Both men fought admirably with Mr. Bradley delivered punishing blows to the body throughout the contest. He was charging Addison from the second the first bell rang until the final bell sounded ending the contest. Addison came to fight as well. He would jab and move but too frequently got caught on the ropes where he was punished relentlessly. More...

Boxing Press Conference: Bernard Hopkins - Antonio Tarver

By Joe Ulrey March 24th, 2006 All Boxing Previews
It was a fabulous day in Southern California. It was a great day for the beautiful people to come out for the press conference promoting the upcoming fight between two of boxings finest, Bernard Hopkins and Antonio Tarver

Hopkins entered the conference room at Hollywood Park's Turf Club first. He was "dressed to the nines" in a brown business suit and appears to be in great shape. After a few minutes of Hopkins posing for the cameras, Antonio Tarver entered the room. Not to be outdone, Mr Tarver could have been on the cover of GQ instead of promoting the upcoming fight. The two men immediately engaged in a "staredown" that lasted for probably 60 seconds but seemed like a lot longer.

After the promoters spoke, Hazim Richardson took the podium. He is Bernard's chief trainer. He spoke about the things we all know about Hopkins. He is one of the most disciplined athletes ever to lace on a pair of gloves. He talked about Hopkins beating Trinidad on a Saturday and calling him immediately Monday morning to resume training in the gym. The Hopkins camp has hired Shane Mosley's trainer for expertise in fighting left handers. More...
