Thread: Margarito likely to face Joshua Clottey

Margarito's supposed to be fighting Joshua Clottey (28-1, 18 KO's). From what I've seen of Clottey he's pretty solid.

Yes and no... I havent seen a whole lot of this Clottey but he certainly hasnt fought great opposition, I still don't understand what good this fight does Tony though.. Noone knows this guy and it won't matter if he KOs him in 2 seconds... Kind of like his last fight. Anyways Clottey's only loss is a rd 11 DQ against Carlos Baldomir... Anyone know the details?? who was up on the cards and why was it stopped?

Was it stopped because he hit him after the bell or repeated hitting after the bell....I think it was something like that and you are right,I don't think this fight is good for Tony,high risk,no reward! If he loses.....what then?!

Margarito should bitch out Bob arum or switch promoters all together... He always seems to get shafted when it comes to actuallly getting the big fights. I suppose ARum is just going to forget about Margarito facing PBF now Anyways I know Baldomir has sparred with MArgarito quite alot so I guess since Clottey fought Carlos Tony will know what he needs to do to win.. But that still doesn't make it a meaningful fight.

Margarito needs to call out Oscar and PBF. Tarver did the same with Jones and was granted a fight and got a pay day. Vargas did it with Oscar and got a pay day.

Margarito needs to call Oscar and PBF, vile names, and do it often. call them scaredy cats, fags, wusses. every interview he gets he should call them a name. go to their press conferences, and ask questions and call them names. go to their gyms, call them names, then beat up their sparring partners. flirt with their women, and wives, and call them names too.

Margarito needs to stop being a nice guy.

Oh,I heard he opened his mouth on Floyd BIG TIME...shame it was not printed anywhere and he had to be pulled away from Floyd at the fight and asked why he wasn't getting his chance..

Joshua is a good fighter, he tries to be Ike Quartey and Mike Tyson. Problem is he is the same type of fighter Margarito has been fighting. This fight if Margarito wins it won't show anything new nor will it prepare him for a fighter like Floyd.

Starr you're confusing me. He's the same type of fighter Margarito's been fighting? I thought you said he was a guy that could move and box a little, not one of the stand in front guys that Margarito's been fighting

I have also read that Vivian Harris, Zab Judah, and Mayweather were all afraid to spar with clottey.

Margarito though being the man that he is will not back down like the others above.

I've watched a lot more of him since then Can't I change my mind
