Default Here's why Floyd aint scared of Hatton or Margarito....it's simple mathematics.

Here's the answer to the question that settles all this bullshat about Floyd being scared...it keeps getting brought up over & over & over...so just answer it...honestly...

Would you work your a** off one night for $20 million plus the fame of humiliating one of the better boxers of this gen or would you work your a** off fighting two men on two seperate nights for $8 million & maybe $10 million...maybe $10 million & much less fame on your record?

You really don't even need to answer...because unless your'e desperate to get that next rock or mathematics elluded you throughout your years in public school...you'd take the one night...am I right? Or am I wrong?

I'm right...trust me...you might not want me to be...but I am 100% right on this one...because I...like most of my male counterparts accross this glorious globe am a lazy fwock who loves making easy money & I'd take the one night for fame & fortune.

That was for the entire clan of doubters...not just one person...it's simple mathematics.

Floyd wants Oscar & until the last chip falls...he's going to gamble for the big paycheck...as would all who have any common sense.

Your right he aint scared of no one, there is so much polotics in this game, people have to be patient, but your right Wack, how can Floyd be scared of Hatton and Margorito when he wants a naturally bigger guy in Dela Hoya, whose power is looking awesome.

    Agreed.

You are right though...politics are involved...look at what Floyd had to do to even possibley get a shot at Oscar...he left his promoter (who even though they clashed has been paying his ass) because he knew that if he didn't bail that'd be one more reason that he'd never hit Oscar flush in the chops inside of the square circle.

Floyd's daddy should step the fwock off & let his son handle his business like a man & not a boy.

if you beat delahoya then people who don't even watch boxing know ur name. the same thing happened with hopkins, he was three times more famous by beating oscar than he was before plus he made his biggest payday fighting oscar.
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya

I understand Floyd fighting Oscar over the other 2, I know I would, thats not the question.

The question is why didn't Floyd fight these people along the way to Oscar....

that's only a fair question as to hatton. floyd's only been at welter for 2 fights. you can't call him scared for not taking margarito as his opening tune-up to the division, and when he initially set the fight up with judah, judah was the top dog in the division. i think if judah had lost to baldomir before floyd moved up, we may very well have seen floyd beating margarito a couple months ago instead.

even as to hatton, though--yeah, they were in the same division, but hatton's people have repeatedly said they're not ready for floyd, and that they want 2 or 3 fights first. i know this board is very brit-heavy, but the fact is that hatton's not a big name in the states, and the states is where the real money is. i understand that hatton is huge over there, and can sell out big arenas, but gate sales are a fraction of the ordinary take from a fight--PPV is where the real money's at. And with U.S. population dwarfing UK population, it stands to reason that there's a bigger potential PPV market in the U.S.--and thus more money to be made. But you have to have the name to make the sales first. Ricky and his people understand this, and that's why THEY are putting off a floyd fight until they get bigger states-side exposure through, e.g., a Gatti match. this doesn't translate into floyd being, or ever having been, scared of hatton.

He didn't fight those people along the way to Oscar was first off Hatton was just starting to get recognized and now that he is recognized he said himself that he doesn't want floyd just yet. And with Tony he hasn't fought anyone to give him any stock meaning he wouldn't bring in any money and you know how floyd is.

Quite simply it was Gatti, Hatton, Judah, & Oscar that he had been screaming over.

That was just short about a year ago. He's moving along just fine IWO...everyone just wants to rush a good thing & nothing is ever good enough.

If the OScar fight falls through then he'll fight Hatton or Margarito...if he beats them...everyone would say that he dodged Cotto...it'd never be good enough.

Thats pretty much right on the money Wack I couldn't have said it any better myself. Thats the way it has been with every fighter that is on the top, I don't think its gonna change anytime soon.

Can you imagine the Gatti fans saying Floyd didn't want any part of Arturo, if he had fought Hatton instead?? It would have happened too... I think the internet just makes people impatient with regards to boxing.. the GOATS didn't have people bitching about their next opponents every time they fought... They would fight the boxers that made enough noise by defeating other fighters, until the public demanded they fight.. Now people don't even have to do a damn thing and they are these terribly dangerous and feared fighters.. Sam Langford was a feared fighter, because he beat up Joe Gans, Stanley Ketchel, and many large fear black HWs as a middleweight, all the while never being given a title shot.. Margarito already has a freaking belt, and apparently is a feared fighter because he can throw alot of punches against dusty trunks.. If not for the internet guys like Tony would actually have to DO SOMETHING before people said they earned it.

    100% on the nose.

The GOATS never had to hear the mess that fighters today have to hear due to the fact that there wasn't a mouth piece like the net to contend with...but as a whole...we are an impatient buncha bitches.

and risk an injury that may not be healed until after oscar retires?!? no way, you fight cash cow de la hoya NOW while he's still in the game...then you can go for the lesser fighters...

and i mean not only lesser purses, but hatton, margarito, etc have much less of a chance of beating PBF than oscar does!
