    Default question

one thing that ive never understood about boxers is why do they stay in the same weight for so long even though they have beaten everyone in that weight i mean for example mayweather jr has dominated the welterweight division for a long time now and he only has one belt

Fighting in and eventually dominating a division for a long period of time, shows excellent discipline and is a sign of potential greatness.

Many Great/superb fighters fought virtually/all their entire career in one division; Hagler, Monzon, Napoles, Wilde, Leonard (Benny) come immediately to mind.

Ummmmmmmmm...Mayweather hasn't dominated the welterweight division for a long time.

He's only just fought & beaten 2 welters. Super Feather is what division Floyd dominated for so long.
