Gilberto Roman was a two time holder of the WBC Super Flyweight crown. He won a four fight series with the excellent Santos Laciar. Beat Jiro Watanabe by decision in Tokyo!!! And had two good wins over Sugar Baby Rojas.

Sadly, he was killed in a car crash aged 28 in 1990, with a 54-6-1 (35) record.

I should, as there seems to be some superb fighters down there, but post mid 90s, with the odd exception, I have lost touch with the fighters below Featherweight.

Which is my loss as I really got quite good knowledge of the 80s/early 90s fighters at 118 and under after watching McAuley/BassaI (a must watch, for anyone).

Great list mate, but unless your'e are a boxing historian for a living I think you need to get out more :P

Oh and Duran should be top 3 definitely above Hagler in my opinion as he won titles at 5 weights (or was it 4? still it was a lot) and I think Alexis Arguello should be a little higher.

Where's Frank Bruno? Come on man he should be there! He was the face of British boxing in the 80's!

The more I think about this, the more of an injustice this seems Britkid.

Put Frank Bruno in your damn list!

    BRUNO BRUNO BRUNO

Come on a world title at about the 4th attempt, he dserves his place.

I'm sure you would put old man Walcott in a top 100 fighters of the fifties so you have to put in big Frank!!

Now this list is better put together than the 90's list. CC for you, Ray Leonard was the man.

I have better knowledge of the 80s, I switched off post 95, and I personally think it shows in the structure of the lists...

Duran should not be above Hagler in the 80s.. Duran at number 10 is being generous considering he lost to Kirkland Laing in the early 80s before he lost to Hagler.

I would put Virgil Hill ahead of Hector Camacho and Michael Nunn all time, but this is the 80s and Hill did not do that much in the 80s. Although Tyson in the 80s did not do enough to warrant where he is there. Hearns did much more in the 80s than Tyson. Hearns was practically the 80s since he won his title in 80 and fought 16 title fights in the 80s.
