Default Trinidad Vs De La Hoya! Who will have the greater legacy

Both of these fighters will go down as HOF without a doubt, but who will have the greater legacy years from now. I believe Trinidad will because his mega fights against (Reid,Vargas,Joppy) were sensational. He also defended his WW title a record 16 times, beat three gold medal winners, cleaned out 154 in three fights. And won the MW championship of the world. Oscar has one belts in 6 different weight classes, grossed more money than any other fighter that's a non heavyweight. But Tito won the head to head match up.

I don't think you can say one's legacy will be greater than the other. They both have accomplished great things and both have accomplished things the other hasn't. Tito destroyed his opponents while Oscar was inconsistent. Both have retired and unretired, but Tito seems to have fought the better competition. I am a Tito fan and must say there was nothing like the excitement of Tito in the ring. No one has come close since. But Oscar has accomplished a lot, I must admit. Olympic Gold Medalist, champion in how many divisions? They have both been great. The most exciting chant in sports? Tito! Tito! Tito! Tito!.

ODLH will have the better legacy because he never lost the way Tito did......and ODLH has looked better in his last few fights.....I don't think there will ever be another fight between the two because TITO has slipped down a little....Translation: He doesn't bring enough money to the table for ODLH>>>>
It feels good to be back home.

    yes and no

yes, because the first one was kind of a bust (imo) and i would like to see them mix it up a little more

no, because i think at this stage in their careers they arent fighters of the same caliber (espically tito) so in my opinion, it wouldnt be the historical match-up that it was a few years ago. i think oscar has a lot left to give, but i think that tito has given the sport all he could give (more than anybody could expect, for sure)

    so, to answer your question...........
i would like (and pay) to see the rematch, but it isnt nearly as significant as it was a few years ago

The KO loss to Hopkins was not pretty, but I think this should have been a three fight rivalry. Tito was game for the rematch right after the first one yet Oscar was not willing to switch the purses they both recieved in the first fight, I thought that was selfish.

I love ODH's quote about Vargas and street fighting

Me too... Theres always the arguement, that DLH beat Trinidad's left overs... But he also fought quite a few great fighters than Trinidad didn't, who were certainly as good as anyone Trinidad ever beat, like Quartey, Mosley, Chavez and Hernandez... Oscar fought in more weight divisions and started his career smaller, although he was obviously naturally bigger than a lightweight. Then of course, the real issue is their fight with each other, in which DLH was shown to be a superior boxer, imo. He screwed up in strategy, and that fight set a precident which is hard to argue with, you can't just run the championship rounds, and take the belts.. But it's not as if Tito was beating him up those rounds, he couldn't catch DLH when he was boxing, or when he wasn't... It was Oscar who blew that fight though, and if not for that, this would not even be a question that anyone would raise, imo.

    Oscar....

Hes made more money, sold more fights, is the biggest draw in boxing outsiode of heavyweight ever, some would argue in the sport full stop.

My mom knows Oscar she doesnt know Trinidad, Oscar is just the bigger name of the two that will be cemented in history....

ODLH will have the greater legacy, as he is a total household name everyone even non-boxing fans know who he is he has continued to promote boxing and will for a very long time, I guess what I'm saying is memorability would define for me the "greater legacy"
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
