I think hes still a great prospect , he just needs to learn how to use his power and be a little bit more of a volume puncher also he looked a little unbalanced when he threw more than one punch

Every once in a while I looked at Julio and he reminded me too much of Trinidad against Hopkins or Wright, completely discouraged, confused, and without a plan B. He can beat many many fighters, but will have trouble against certain styles. at 21 he is still very young though, and I hope to see some changes made.
as long as they pick the right fights for him he will do ok. But he doesnt have the boxing skill to beat a slick boxer with a sturdy chin. At this level he wont be winning decisions

I was impressed with Carlos Quintana though.
Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!
yeah....he looked really good...of course that might hurt him if he gets rushed into a big fight now...he needs a little more exp...IMO....Originally Posted by wacko3205

Just watched the fight. Quintana gave Julio a boxing lesson last night. I think Joel can still go on to be a force in years to come, I mean he's only 21 so should improve tremendously.
But as for Quintana he looked great, very slick, able to take a punch. A great prospect.
It's actually getting almost unbelievable just how strong the welter weight division is.
I mean you the big guns, Mayweather, Margarito, Hatton, Mosely with Cotto soon to move up.
Then you've got excellent danger men Zab Judah, Cory Spinks, Cintron, Baldomir etc.
And on top of that it seems like every week another new face burts onto the scene, Collazo, Paul Williams, now Quintana.
Message to UK boxers.
@ Ricky Hatton, For fucks sake MOVE BACK DOWN MAN!!!!
@ Amir Khan, Sorry buddy but you need to scale down your ambitions. Your young bones are still growing and you are probably going to fill out into a 147 pounder.
I'll say it now sunshine, the only titles you are going to be winning end in U or O :P
I think people overlook the fact that Julio is 21 and had nearly 30 fights and was fighting for a top number 1 contender spot. Shoot most fighters at 21 only have 8 or so fights. Julio has lots of time to adjust and evolve, he's still a baby, he can go on to still be great.
Atleast Julio didn't fall apart like Kermit Cintron did

C'mon, I have seen better come from bumb fighters....
When he couldnt get off his punches like he wanted he got discouraged, not only could you see it in his fighting, but you could see it on his face between every round...
A prospect, well.....MAYBE...It all depends on how well he bounces back from this loss...Thats the determing factor to me...
He got his boxing lesson last night, so he needs to learn from the loss and go on....
Good Luck,
Coach
Julio looked very impressive the first time I had seen him, but last night, he looked completely one dimensional, a little slow, and easily discouraged. I don't agree with Kellerman that this Quintanna is on the way to being some great fighter or something, he was a herky jerky little shat, he fought amatuerish. He's got a chin and some pop and definately won the fight. Personally I think Cintron could probably KO either of them, be a competitive fight with either, but, I think he'd get em before 10 rounds.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
He still a good prospect, he is still very young and has years to hone his style. I am impressed with him, he has blown away his lack of competition. Which just means he hasnt fought down to anybody elses level. But I believe we will see big things from this kid in the next couple of years.
