He is great in the UFC where in my opinion is a low grade version of MMA. But the minute he went to Pride he got his azz handed to him by Quinton RAMPAGE Jackson! So how good is he really?

I wanna see Chuck Liddel VS. Vanderlei Silva
He beat Overeem and Metzger in Pride before he lost to Rampage, so its not really accurate to say he got his ass kicked in Pride. It was a great fight and Chuck gassed which allowed Quinton to overpower him. Prides 10 minute 1st round is a MOFO if your used to five minute rounds. All that being said what was that like three tears ago? I feel pretty certain that Chuck would win a rematch in the Octagon. And it may very well happen.

thats kinda using an excuse for Liddel when Pride fighters do that all of the time! Liddel went to Pride to fight so he should of trained to fight a Pride fight right? I'm pretty sure that he did & the better man won period!Originally Posted by VanChilds
Rampage is a mean SOB & INO he would win again!
I saw a stare down in a MMA magazine between Vanderlei Silva & Chuck Liddel: now that is a fight that I wanna see!
Silva is fighting Mirko Cro-Cop on Saturday or Sunday I think!
I wasn't trying to make an excuse for Chuck he lost the fought, I just think it was more an abberation. More the point was that Chuck is 2-1 in Pride. He didn't just lose in his only fight.

Then Mirko is going to beat him unless he gets submittedOriginally Posted by NorthSideX4
Chuck is very good.......Top 2 lhw in the world.Originally Posted by NorthSideX4
I think in MMA even more so than boxing you can't draw alot of conclusions from one loss. I mean Chuck has beaten Overeem/Randleman/Ortiz/Belfort/Metzger/Couture/Sobral/Bustamante/Horn/Monson.
This is a pretty good list. Right now I think there are only two LHW in the world that I'd give a 50-50 chance of winnning. Arona and Silva. Rampage barely got by Lindland who just isn't in the same league as Chuck. I just don't think Quinton is at the same level he was before Silva beat him.

The best fighters in UFC are:
Chuck Liddel
babulu
Matt hughes
The rest couldn't hold a candle to Pride fighters.
BJ? GSP? Sherk? Pulver? A Silva? Possibly even Sylvia.
They may not necessarily be championship material in Pride (besides BJ, who could probably win the LW,WW and MW UFC belts if he got his act together and fought like he used to :P ), but they could take all but the best of Pride in my opinion, and even then give the best a run for their money.
Boxing is like a handjob, and MMA is like a hot sweaty orgy with 5 chicks. I could never say no to a handjob, but which would you rather have?
Yes GSPierre, is a pretty complete fighter and Penn has a lot of talent and he is freaky with the flexibility.
but tim sylvia? no way.
People really underestimate Sylvia for whatever reason. If nothing else, he is tall without being a freakshow (a la Giant Silva). He's a decent boxer who can use his reach very well, and is smart enough to avoid falling into someone elses game (his fight with Silva). He's definately not going to be beating Fedor any time soon, but I bet he'd make a much more interesting match with him or CC than most people think.

I wouldn't give him Fedor, Crocop, Barnett, and probably Nog either.
He's an effective punch on stilts. When it goes to the floor he gets exposed everytime.
Granted, both his losses are submissions, but neither one of them were exactly from the "ground game." Against Mir, he got too aggressive and pretty much gave Mir his arm, which wasnt a problem, as he was about to slam his way out of it. The fact that his arm couldn't stand the pressure was a problem, though :P. And against Arlovski, I think that was more a case of "Uh Oh....He's gonna friggin clock me, I know he is..." only to have AA do the smart thing and avoid trying to "go to the ground" with Sylvia and into his guard, who I'd bet would actually fair quite well on the ground. Instead he grabbed the ankle and that was that.
But Sylvia has such long legs that I'd honestly bet he could be pretty damned efficient on the ground. With legs that long, it'd be hard NOT to triangle your opponent. But the fact of the matter is, from what I've seen, Sylvia has yet to REALLY be tested on his ground game. Assuerio Silva was supposed to take him down because of his insane BJJ skills, but he never got a chance to do get Sylvia down, and when he did, Sylvia just held him in place to get the restart.

Inch per inch if you will, I actually think monson is the most talented in the heavy division in the UFC but I really don't see how he is going to get inside on Sylvia.
Arvloski should have taken it to the ground last time. I know his knee was f-d up and all, but that should have increased his urgency to get that thing on the floor.
