YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Mike Tyson could be returning to the ring.

The former heavyweight champion was to appear at a news conference Thursday in Youngstown to announce plans for "Mike Tyson's World Tour," according to a news release from Sterling Promotions Inc.

Tyson, who last fought in June 2005, losing to Kevin McBride, is to fight at the tour's opening next month in Youngstown, boxing publicist Bob Trieger said Tuesday.

The 40-year-old said after his bout against McBride that he was finished with boxing. He recently trained in a makeshift ring outside the buffet at the Aladdin hotel in Las Vegas to make money to help pay the millions he owes creditors.

The tour is to include former lightweight champ Paul Spadafora, who was paroled earlier this year after spending seven months in prison for shooting his fiancee in 2003 in Pittsburgh.

Also on the card is former 2003 Pan-Am Games silver medalist Juan McPherson, who unsuccessfully fought in court to win a spot on the 2004 U.S. Olympic team after being medically disqualified because of a neck injury suffered in the ring.
