good click.
Ouch!!!
Watching the fight was crazy I mean I kept telling myself his whole face MUST HAVE been numb in order for him to have continued fighting....

This was easily the best fight of the year so far, I loved every bonebreaking minute of it!
What about Vasquez-Gonzalez?Originally Posted by bilbo

I have posted a few thoughts, but I will give you my true overall feelings...Originally Posted by CutMeMicK

I was at the fight in Wetzlar and have since watched it with different people 3 times (actually watched the 5th round stoppage many times).
The 5th round was an embarrassment to boxing. The ref stopped the fight on a headbutt. His initial reaction was just a warning 'Watch the head'. He was ready to resume action with no deductions and when he turned to Abraham he sees Abraham walking to his corner. The ref says 'Time... take a minute'. Now the ref talks to adviser and decides the stoppage is for an intentional headbutt (changed his mind from his initial thoughts). Without the refs permission the ring doctor goes up and starts working on Abraham's mouth (not the back of his ear where the butt occurred, but in his mouth). Now a ring Dr is supposed to review an injury and determine weather or not a fighter can continue. This doctor (and a few minutes later a 2nd doctor) do not just examine the wound, but spend close to 5 minutes trying to repair the injury and stop the bleeding. While this is going on the Ref is just standing there looking stupid. Finally the ad visor tells the ref that the corner wants the doctor to stop the fight. The doctor after minutes of examination finally does look at the ref and signal to call the fight. The ref confirms with the doctor to end the fight and the doctor nods his head 'Yes'. Now the ref and the adviser are talking about how to make the ruling and they finally agree that Miranda wins by TKO since the headbutt had nothing to do with the injury. Before the Ref can make the official announcement to the audience, Wilfred Sauerland (the promoter) has a hissy fit and demands that they continue the fight. Why the ref even acknowledges him is beyond me, but the ref not only listens to him, but agrees that he will continue. He than asked Abraham 'Can you fight' and Abraham shakes his head and says 'NO'. This again causes Mr Sauerland and his corner to yell at Abraham in German (interpreted to be basically 'Be a Man. You Cant Quit. You need to go back out there and make us proud') Abraham looks at the ref and shrugs his shoulders. The ref again asks Abraham 'Are you ready to fight' This time Abraham nods his head yes and the fight resumes.
Why the Ref would ignore a doctor and Abraham himself (the only people that can really know Abraham's true condition) is a crime! I am not saying this because Miranda would have gotten the win, I really feel bad that the Promoter had no care for the life and well being of his fighter. It was more important to risk everything for this one win and not look at the long term sacrifice.
As far as the low blows, I think there were a couple that deserved warnings, but there were none that were blatant and in the groin. The call in the 11th round when Abraham was about to go down was a joke! Abraham sold the call and the ref not only bought it, but gave Abraham 5 minutes of rest, the only thing imo that saved him from the final touch of Miranda's power.
I scored it 8 rounds for Miranda, 2 for Abraham. The other 2 I gave to Miranda, but they were close enough where I know that the judges would give them to the home town German favorite.
In America Miranda wins this fight twice, once by TKO and once by decision.
Abraham will be looked at as a hero and warrior for finishing this blood bath and I agree. But that does not win him the fight. He did next to nothing for most of the last 7 rounds (a few 20 second spurts of energy here and there, but not nearly enough to win a round). All he did was try to survive knowing he could not lose a decision and the ref was there to protect the win whenever possible.
Anyway, I can go on and on, but that is an overall thought. Miranda, although not getting the win, proved a lot in this fight (no more chin questions!) and proved that he will soon be a champion on paper!
nice insights bro Pantera...Thanks..
i didn't see the fight so your thoughts really helped.
Miranda phuked up and got frustrated and that is why he head butted the smurf. It was a very dumb azz move on Mirandas part. The low blows were not low. (They were perfect shots) However, I still gave all the early rounds to Smurf. By the 7th, Miranda was so far behind in points, all the smurf had to do was cruise for the next 6. Some one needs to teach Miranda a little more ring smarts. But I have to agree with Pantera, that the whole thing that happend after the head butt was also bullshiet.
I wanted Miranda to win but Smurf was doing some great counter punching and the peek-a -boo was working until his jaw got cracked. Smurf still held his own and deserved to keep his title. Miranda needed a knock out and that did not happen. There should be a rematch but not in Germany.
Nice war.
LMAO! Huge typo* 7 + 6 = 12 ? not only can I not spell, I can't add either.
I left the typo cus it was funny. My bad and you folks know what I ment.
Thanks for sharing and I agree with EVERYTHING you posted about the headbutt, and the scenario that occured you did forget to mention that when the Ref. realised that it was going to the scorecards he then walks over and penalizes Miranda. That whole thing there was without a doubt similar to Muniz-Napoles IOriginally Posted by Pantera

Though I do think Miranda was very foolish to Headbutt an could have easily been DQ'd for that. Still Arthur did enough to wn the fight and countered Miranda all night catching him flush. I scored it for Arthur.
Thanks for the pics and recap here Pantera. CC. I always love a war, but how on earth did Abraham fight with his jaw shattered like that!? Those pictures are gruesome...seems like the fight shouldve been stopped...you can see the blood pouring out of his mouth in those pics not to mention how swollen it was. Just reaffirms to myself that despite fantasizing about going pro I'd never really do it! Screw heart...can you imagine how it would feel getting nailed in the jaw when its already shattered and swollen!?!? I'd only fight like that if it were a life or death situation!
Pantera it sucks your boy lost. I feel for ya, I too like Miranda. I did not get to see the fight, my internet connection is too slow to use youtube anyhow. Miranda, needs to get a bit more polished and he will be the greatest opponent for Jermain Taylor. He'll be Jermain Taylor's Antwun Echols. Not that Miranda is as good as Echols was at MW IMO, but Taylor sure as hell ain't as great as Bernard Hopkins was at MW either. Miranda will be back, and hopefully on American fukin TV!
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
They should protest then.Originally Posted by Pantera
I'm sure a protest of some kind is on the works. The problem, however, is the only people that can overturn a fight result is the commission that oversees the fight. If you rememeber, Team Pantera had a huge problem when they found out the Austrian Boxing Commission was overseeing the fight. If you look closely you find out that this commission oversees only Sauerland events. Rumors are that Sauerland developed this commission himself and basically calls the shots. So there is not going to be any chance this match turns into a N/C no matter what is proven.
The IBF has the power to call for an immediate rematch. Obviously Abraham will not see the inside of the ring for a long time so this may do nothing for Pantera. I am hoping that since Abraham is out for imo at least 1 year, they IBF will demand an interm title and let Edison fight the next highest rated opponant for it.
My wish is that when Abraham recovers he is forced to take another beating here in the States where nobody is going to be in the ring to protect him.
