Hell Tommy was a nightmare for any fighter everin his prime he only lost to the absolute elite.....His straight right was one of pure devestation....A freak of nature to be as tall as him and be a welterweight.......At prime in a P4P situation (Cause yhey were never at the same weight in their primes)....Hearns takes Jones apart...Tommy was fast and those long arms with the power he had would keep jones away...Fast enought to catch him strong enough to hurt him....I couldn't see Jones toe to toe fighting him either

Hearns was a nightmare for anyone unless they could manhandle them

Truth is Tommy was giving him everything he could handle til the knockout....Hagler could not keep that up another few rds...Tommy was ALL over him from the start...IMO within a few rds that cut by the eye would have split wide enough to cause a stoppage anyhow.....You right if Hearns had a little better chin Hagler would not have won that

Tommy Hearns was one of the most powerful fighters EVER! Daxx is right, he only lost to the likes of SRL and Hagler, who where 2 of the best fighters ever. P4P i would take Hearns. Only thing that makes me cautious is the chin, GOD if only Tommy had the chin!!!!
what about iran barkley :POriginally Posted by DaxxKahn
Barkley was getting crushed. He landed a lucky punch and got the ko. But he was seriously on his way out when he landed that big shot.Originally Posted by ICE COLD BOXING
he beat him in 2nd fight aswell on points hearns is great fighter though no doubt he would of been almost unbeatable if he had a granite chinOriginally Posted by luvfightgame
Hearns-Benn at 154 would have been a hell of a fight
I'm not so sure about Hearns beating RJJ.
If you are talking p4p, then maybe, but if you are talking in actual terms, then I don't think so.
Even though Hearns is taller, RJJ is physically bigger & stronger.
RJJ is probably even quicker than Hearns & I think he would be too strong for Tommy.
As said previously, Tommy didn't have the best success against elite fighters (Duran excepted & he was past it) & RJJ was an elite fighter.
I take Roy to KO Tommy in about 8.

duran wasnt past it because had one hell of a fight with barkley in 1989 one of his best performances plus before he lost to hearns he had just lost close decision to hagler and didnt he beat davey moore in 83 ??Originally Posted by Syntax Error
Good point there.Originally Posted by ICE COLD BOXING
I was a bit harsh on Duran, he was still a great fighter, but he was at his very best in the 1970's.
It was exceptional of Hearns to do that to Duran, because nobody had ever done anything like that to him.

I love Tommy to death as afighter...But you guys have to be on the piss if you think Tommy would beat Roy in his prime No F*&king way!!!!!Originally Posted by ICE COLD BOXING
I know this is hypothetical scenario but people C'mon Roy peaked at 168-175lbs...Tommy was a Welterweight 147 Moved to Junior Middle 154 then Middleweight 160.....Roy is the naturally bigger guy and was Knocking out bigger guys....Ok you Forget that Roy had one punch KO power as well...Not to mention Roy was a More superior athlete than anyone in his prime meaning Between reflexes, speed, power, elusiveness...he would have all that over Tommy along with being the Physically bigger guy....
Not to mention they fought about a 15-20lb difference apart in there primes....A cute thought but no way Hearns beats junior not even PFP...
I like how people love to point out the destruction over Duran...Yes Duran is a legend..Do you remember that Duran love to come forward and was giving up 6inches to Tommy and a God awful reach disadvantage...
I debated a similiar subject 2 weeks ago with this guy Dennis when he said Tommy Hearns would beat Gerald McClellan....I said no Gotdam way not in this lifetime or the next..I mention the Logistics on the weight and overall physical disadvantage Tommy would be at...Not to mention Gerald had a cast iron chin and Oh by the way is regarded as one of the hardest hitters EVER in Boxing history...Then he used the Duran KO as an example....Yea Woopdy DO!!!!!! lets see a 6 in height disparity reach disadvantage...During the Referees instructions in the middle of the ring it Looked like Rocky was looking up at Drago or a highscool senior staring down a 5th grader in a school yard!!!!! I asked him how the heck was he going to utilize the same strategy seeing that Gerald is an inch taller and had a hell of a reach himself.....
