Default Sonny Listen Vs Joe Frazier

You know the score, both were punchers and world champions and ATG's. If they

    were both in their prime.

I would say Sonny's chin was as good as Frazier.

    Both had power, stamina.

Sonny was more of the boxer type, jab then cross and start punching.

Frazier was more of a in-fighting body puncher.

I would not know which way to call this one. What does the people think?

I could be wrong but I feel that Liston's chin was noticeably better than Frazier's chin. Liston had a pulverizing jab and better one punch KO power. Frazier jumps on Liston early to win round one, Liston starts pumping the jab and drops Frazier in rounds 2 and 3 en route to a TKO victory in Round 3.

Frazier would have lit Liston up like a Christmas tree.

Frazier would have lost this... Liston was not only a person who most critics believe would beat Foreman prime vs. prime, but he was also a great boxer along with puncher... at least for their era. He was too strong, and too skilled for Frazier who was a very small heavyweight.

This is a tough call........ I don't think Liston's jab would be a factor. Frazier had too much head movement for Liston to use his jab effectively. And I'm not sure Liston had enough one punch power to do to Frazier what Foreman did. Liston tended to wilt when the other boxer was not afraid of him, and Frazier feared nobody. Also, there's not that much difference in size (Frazier around 6", Liston 6"1"). Unless Liston really lands some haymakers early in the fight, I see Frazier winning a split decision.

Liston, like Tyson, relied on the intimidation factor. When the going got rough Frazier would take him out.
