Thing is...I'd rather him fight Williams & shut him up & then go on to fight Cotto & have his ass handed to him.

Yeah but all that would do is put that "Greatest 147 pounder nobody wants to fight label on him" AGAIN!!! And its repetitive in my opinion man. I know Williams aint ready, but 9 out of 10 boxing sites will say Margarito beat the best 147 pounder out there next to him and etc etc

....but then that label would be passed to Cotto as Toni will no doubt be stopped

Cotto and Tony wouldn't fight if Tony beat Williams(which he would)

I think Williams will stomp Tony pretty easy ! Tony has a lot of heart. but I predict a one sided 12 R dec victory for Williams. maybe even a late Round stoppage. Margarito gets hit with every thing you throw his way, and he is super super slow for a 147 lb fighter !

Seriously though...he stands a better chance of beating Williams than Cotto. Williams (while fun to watch & hits like a mule kicks) is like an open book compared to Cotto.

I'd pick Margarito over Williams due to the experience factor & the fact that he'll come out trying to make a statement by knocking Margarito out & it'll cost him...but I still like Williams better.

Bottom line is this, If Margarito fights either guy, we're in for a treat.

This has fight of the year written all over it. I am almost wanting to see this matchup more than Mayweather-De La Hoya because it should be a brawl. Hope it gets signed.

I’m gonna have to go back on myself here.

At first I thought it was a good idea to fight Williams 1st as it would silence those who say he was ducking Williams etc.

    But that’s just silly.

Besides, if Margarito fought Williams and beat him. I fear that he'd be made to wait a hell of a long wait to fight Arums Baby Boi Cotto.

Then again, one way or another Margarito is looking at a considerable long spell of inactivity & flack as Cotto is fighting soon and Margarito would have to wait for Cotto anyway.

Ah sod this, Margarito should just wipe the floor with Williams, put chills up Arums pants and just try and make fights with either Collazo or Mosley (his no.2 and 3).

    Then Cotto might be available.

Were does Mayweather fit into all this...
I think he gets beat by Dela Hoya and either tries to make fights with Mosley/Collazo/Hatton or retires.

Tony DUCKS NO ONE! I think he was pissed at Williams running his mouth and he was pissed at Arum, becaue Bob thinks just because Cotto had 1 good night at 147, and TONY had 1 bad night, that Cotto will all of a sudden destroy Tony ...big mistake.

I'm going on record now,Margarito is going to beat Williams and beat Cotto. Just like I said Tony was not ducking Paul but haters/ignorant fans/PBF fans who know he ducked Tony said he was....

Margarito is going to be super charged for these fights,I honestly honestly hope Paul keeps running his mouth and because it can only serve to pump this Mexican badass even more.
Sure, you say that now that Margarito has been backed into a corner. In all honesty, I think it was more Arum than Margarito wanting to drop the belt. I think Arum probably is using him as a buffer to make other fighters look good. Cotto will beat him. But a loss to Williams before hand could either keep the fight from happening or put fewer pennies in Arum's pocket so he was playing the odds.

And I do think Williams is going to win. Two piss-poor defenses, it'll be survival of the chinnest.

Yeah, at first I thought "Wow, I really respect Margarito for doing this" but now that I thought about it I wouldn't be suprised if its just a "threat" for him to earn more $ on a cotto fight.

But if Margarito is serious about taking Williams cause he doesn't want to be thought of as a ducker then I have lots of respect for him for doing that..but cant blame him if he isnt serious. Money first, then pride is how it works in the ring

So you still don't respect him?

... It's ok, your stupid. haha
    He doesn't need your respect.

Good for Margarito. I knew this would eat at him. Because honestly, he was coming off as a bit of a hypocrite. Just a hypocrite with a huge payday lined up for him. So it's excusable...I guess. I'm glad he's at least giving the fight thought. Reportedly.

And to say Margarito just walks right through with total confidence is...well it's stupid. Williams has a better defense for Tony then Tony does Williams. Williams is right for the most part, just has lapses. He gets caught with those sneaky little punches in transition. That's why he would have so much trouble with most of the top dogs at 147. Except Margarito. Margarito throws flatfooted and squared up for the most part. He's not the guy to expose Williams. I'm not saying that Williams walks through Margarito, or even that he wins. But Williams isn't Cintron. He's busy, focused and has actually fought someone of merrit. It's easy to say Mitchell is shot, but he did have bounce in his step and he didn't look like a shot fighter before he fight started. It wasn't a Scott Pemberton situation imo. Cintron was coming off a real long layoff, injuries and just wasn't ready. Williams is as ready for Margarito as he is ever going to be.

Hypocrite for fighting SOLID Champion Miguel Cotto?
    Cotto fight may be canceled.
And P-Will will get his UNDESERVED shot, when he never fought a top ten contender.

Boxing fans never help the sport.

Cotto Margarito was the best proposed fight, beating the bout Vazquez vs Marquez.
In fireworks, it could have surpassed all expectations.
