Default Carl Johanneson v Ricky Burns could be fight of the year

There's a fantastic match-up tomorrow night in Britain for the British Super-Featherweight crown, this one is set to be an absolute barn burner. Burns recently lost a close but unanimous decision against Alex Arthur in one of the best fights of 2006, and has had 2 wins since, and Johanneson has also looked very impressive in his recent defence against Femi Fehintola. Styleswise, this match up has the makings of Castillo v Corrales.

Who do you lot think'll win this one? Personally I think Johanneson will have trouble shifting him, Alex Arthur couldn't and Burns has to have improved since then. I think the smart money is on Burns odds-wise, at 13/10.

You're right about it being a fantastic match-up but Castillo-Corrales? This is a bull vs matador type of fight. If Burns goes toe to toe he'll get his arse kicked.

Really looking forward to it. I reckon it'll go the distance - be close - with Johanneson's meatier work winning it for him.

    Fewkes-Watson undercard looks good too.

Im going to back Burns. Fehintola was too frail to execute his game plan and Johanneson just ran over him. Burns is bigger stronger and better than Fehintola.

People think that Burns will have to be the matador, just like Corrales needed to be against Castillo, but I think he'll stay in the pocket and try to use angles. He stood there with Arthur at times and thrown as much back. Ok he may not have as much of a punch but I don't think Burns will be running anywhere or fighting on the back foot.

A few people i know are friends with Fmi Fehintola and even they were sayin beforehand that it was too soon to be in with Johanesson. Femi lacked the power to hurt Johanesson so he just kept on coming. I think he will do the same to Burns to be honest. Johanesson has all that american experience and has KO power. I was going to go to the fight tomorrow but ticket prices are a bit silly baring in mind there isn't much of an exciting undercard on. I went to watch him at leeds last year and the prices have more than doubled. I'll have to settle for sky sports.

I'm really looking forward to this one. Got to give Ricky Burns credit, he's just 23 and only had 16 fights yet he's already beaten Graham Earl, the current British lightweight champ, gave Alex Arthur a run for his money and his now challenging Johanneson for his super featherweight title.

He lacks power which seems to be his biggest undoing, but he's tough as they come and won't let Johnanneson bully him the way he did Fehintola I'm sure.

I'm a bit torn on this one because I quite like Carl Johanneson. He's got a weird parrot like top lip and a rather funny voice that I find quite endearing :P

You think Frank Warren had anything to do with the hike in prices? :P

It's Maloney isn't it? But yes it is all to do with the promoter.....and obviously Burns is a better opponent than Ferrans was last feb.

    Ring this number (0113) 2436017.

Thats ticket delivery number. Could be a bit late now as it might be sold out. Leeds is only a small hall. Ringside seats are £65 compared to £25 last year.

Burns is a Frank Warren fighter, he's gonna be on Sky, so FW wants some compo?

Ahhh my mistake, he's managed by maloney and promoted by warren. Still a bit of a rip off when its live on sky with a poor undercard.

    Hope you're right

That will enhance Johanneson's chance of winning.

Anyway, it's a cracking proper fight highlighted by how split people are about who wins
