Default question for boxing history buffs

My brother and I were discussing which fighter has won the biggest purse. Not taking in to consideration percentages earned from ppv buys or ticket sales which fighter has earned the most for one fight? I thought it was Evander, but I couldn't remeber which fight and i thought it was in the 20 mill range.

It would most likely be Tyson but I doubt he actually got to see more than 20% of them.

I reckon the biggest purse, in terms of actually keeping all their purse as well would most likely be Oscar De La Hoya.

I'd have to search for the exact figure, I know that Tyson has made 30 million before for a fight.
We had a discussion a few months ago about which fighter had made the most off purses in his career.
Tyson was far and away the highest, he's made a lot more off purses than DLH or Holyfield. Now whether he saved that money is another story....

tyson-lewis is the richest fight in the history of boxing with each fighter recieving 30 million

and before that i could be wrong but i believe it was Sugar Ray vs Hagler with hagler getting 18 million and sugar ray 13 million

In 1909 Tommy Burns declared that he would only give Jack Johnson a shot at the title if he was guaranteed 30K. He named such a high price in order to duck Johnson and still keep up the illusion that he would fight anyone. Everyone was surprised when an Australian promoter pushed the limits and came up with the 30K Burns demanded. Johnson was paid 6K.
