Geezus Daxx its not like you to just make a short blunt comment without your expert analysis... I must say I'm quite perplexed about your ornery remark....

OH I know!!!!! The inlaws must be visiting and your sitting on the toilet with your laptop trying to hide and get some privacy

Now on to business.....I really don't think much of him...When a fighter is brought along to carefully I question it...IMO there is something his camp and promoters know we don't...Same for as when a fighter is built up...IMO his promotion team and camp know something we don't and want to do their best to maximize the earning potential before it is exposed.....

He's been a pro for just over 2 years... He has 17 fights, don't really see what's so out of the ordinary in terms of how he's being brought up Tons of great fighters, probably most, didn't have any signifigant bouts before they had 20+ fights under their belt.. Just don't see why you think he's being brought up so carefully.. Tackie would have been quite a good step up for the kid and it only fell through because Tackie pulled out..

I'd like to see Berto score a fight with Carlos Quintana, Oktay Urkal or Joshua Clottey. Neither fighter has enough power to knock him out yet either of them would be the best comp he's been in with. A win like that would be beneficial to Berto's rep and his standing within the division. Go the Miguel Cotto route, fight your Urkal's and Quintana's in order to gain recognition and a title shot without risking it all against a Margarito or Cintron, a guy who could leave you lying flat on your back. Somewhere around 20-0 to 23-0, provided that all goes well, I'd hope to see him challenging all of the top five welters. Aside from lacking a big name win I haven't seen any reason not to get behind this kid.

I feel the same way about a lot of fighters who are coming up and have not proven themself but seem to be good prospects....And I did say why I felt that way...read my post again

What do you guys figure to be Berto's biggest weakness? How many guys who are current welters do you think would beat him or be able to expose some weaknesses in his game? I know it is a small sample size but I don't think anyone in the division (unless Mayweather returns) could dominate him, there may be a few top guys that could beat him but I think he would be a difficult task for any opponent. Quick and strong is a good combo.

I like Berto's skills & the guy is exciting to watch.

I heard his chin had let him down a few times in the amateurs, anyone know anything about that?

I've read so much on him and can never find a straight answer as to what his amatuer record actually was. Some places I read over 200 amatuer bout with the majority being wins. I don't know what the hell that's supposed to mean. If anybody knows that answer I'd love to hear it.

    I think it was something like 250 - 15.

Definitely an exciting fast moving prospect but I'm not so sure if I'm sold on him ett. He still looks like a prospect that's for sure, he's a whiles away from a title imo. I watch him and obviously tremendous all around speed and explosive power. Nice combinations and fairly good reflexes but he still as a couple things he has to work on. First being that wide stance of his, he keeps his legs very wide apart and his right at his back shoulder. He looks open for a left hook, especially a counter left hook because he's not the most accurate with the left.

But he is definitely a fun fighter to watch. And a leading prospect but everyone needs to chill on him a little bit. The people who are calling for him to get a title shot anyways.

I think that he is pretty close to challenging any welter other than Mayweather and Mosley...b/c none of the other welters look that impressive.

No other welterweights look good? What? The welterweight division is about as deep as it has been since the 40's.

Margarito, Williams, COTTO (are you kidding me?), Judah, Hatton are just a few who would hammer Berto right now imo. I'm a fan of the guy and all but take it slow, right now he looks really green.
