Decent fighter...Nothing special...Overrated after the Jones fight...Glen Johnson proved that....The Roy Jones win was his career highlight.....Right fight at the right time for him is all...if he and Roy fought two years earlier he would have gotten blown out like in the Hopkins fight and faded into no mans land

Yea agree with Daxx for the most part.. I think he does some things very well, but his stamina and infighting skills suck, he doesn't deal with pressure well at all. A tall rangy southpaw that can crack should be able to give anyone problems, alot more problems then he gave Hopkins that's for sure. I doubt he'll do much now but if he does get back in shape, or the closest he ever was to being, he could still be in some good fights. Chad Dawson vs Tarver would be nice, or Clinton Woods, Adamek, it's not a deep division and he has a shot vs most of the top guys imo..

good fighter, big mouth, always feels he's got a point to prove so his fights are almost always interesting. overall i'd say he's value for money viewing
Good fighter but nothing speacial. If only he was as good at fighting at what he is at talking BS he would be a great fighter.
i dont like him. think he's a bit of a dick head. i remember watchin some rocky balboa documentary thing about the making of the movie and tarver was saying all this shit like 'i have to come to hollywood to get beat up' and then pretty soon afterwards i was watching him get beat up by hopkins and was loving it.
not a bad fighter though and has the ability to give anyone trouble when he's at his best.
Overrated big win over Jones ko round2 good result but not enough to make him great lets not forget Eric Harding beat him UD12 and dropped him in round 11 then theirs his loss to Johnson after his ko of Jones SD12 that he definately lost then he lost to Hopkins now yes Hopkins is a good fighter but had just lost twice on trot to Taylor if Tarver was that good he would have beat him so in my opinion he is overrated
Overrated. Although I thought he won both fights against Johnson. But he landed a one-in-a-million punch that KO'd Jones and his confidence.
Oops
An Enigma !!
2 Harding fights are great examples , 1st he falls asleep gets hammered has his jab broken and 3 cracked ribs and the second under fire and then suddenly wakes up and does the business .
He was talented but an attention seeking fruitbat he beat Reggie Johnson after getting of the deck and shut out Montell Griffin so he had something .
Great amatuer pedigree Olympic Silver Medal .
Hes fighting a guy named Elvir Muriqi next month whos 34-3 against weak opposition. Well se what he has left, but at 38 im not so sure he has much...he still wins this one though imo
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
He's a good athlete who started boxing again too late. He did have good speed, and power, and a good chin as well. I think that if he hadn't left boxing he could have a been a very good boxer, but because he left he was a better than average champion at probably a top 15 p4p.
I never understood why people say fighters are "a$$holes, have big mouths ,talk BS" when it comes to there boxing skills....who cares...its not like your trying to date them...other than that Tarver is a good fighter.I just dont see him beating any of the big names anytime soon.
Boxrec has him back in action against Elvir Muriqi, he needs a big win here.
I don't think he's in love with the sport, he puts me in the mind of Jermain Taylor, skilled and with all the attributes, but not a true fighter, it's a living for him.
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!
