    Default Whay If Holyfield Was....

I can't remember if this topic has been done before or not but...This weekend I was looking at some of Evanders fights and was thinking....

Can you imagine if this guy was 6'4" or 6'5" and about 245-250.....

With his dedication...His heart and skill...Holyfield would have been practically unbeatable....

Many of Evanders losses ( I am talking when he was at his HW best not when he was older and slipping) came due to the fact he was dog tired and out gunned...Yet he would always find a way to stay in the fight...It took everthing his opponent had to beat him....

Now Evander will go down as an all time great without question...His heart is second to none (Maybe Marciano)....He could box and he could slug....If he was the bigger man who nows how dominate he would have been...

    What do you guys think?

    great post.
If holyfield was a little bigger, he would be destroyed the division for years longer. the heart, and will of that warrior put in a bigger fighter is unprecedented

Hard to say... Why does he have that Heart of his? because thats how he compensates for the disadvantages he had physically against opponents, he is as determined as anyone and his will to win is fascinating and beautifully brutal in a sense, if he had all the physical advantages or was on par with the Bowes, Lewis as far as size etc he might not have carried that same determination and heart because he wouldnt have had to tap into it... The mind is very powerful and is capable of helping us push thru our own perceived limitations, Evander is the very epitome of an Overcomer because he was able to master that connection... Thats his strength, not being a mountain of a man possesed with Foreman power or Roy Jones speed.....

Evander dosent have heart he is heart and lives and breathes it, its not just something he switches on for a fight or for his training,it is a way and thats how he attacks every aspect of his life...

    Good post JT

If Holyfield was 6'5, 250lbs he wouldn't be the Holyfield we "know".

The title of the thread may as well been "build the perfect fighter"

If Holyfield was a little bigger, he would be absolutely unstoppable, I can't think of a heavyweight that trains harder or more consistently.

CC JT Rock, that was a great post.

    What do you guys think?
Making Holyfield bigger would have watered him down. He cut his teeth on the cruiserweight division; he may not have achieved what he did had he started out in the heavies. But being bigger it would have been difficult for him to exhibit the heart he did. Sure, he would have pulled the trigger on a lot of guys and in a quicker fashion. But he would have lost more close fights because he wouldn't have had as much oompf to get the job done. Maybe he wouldn't have been able to move as well; his chin might have been in just the right spot for Mike Tyson to rip off with one of those razor sharp uppercuts.
    Oops
