Default Is Oscar in Chavez's Shoes?

First, Im sorry for making another PBF-ODLH thread but the fights only a week away so f@ck it.

Anyways, many people believe that Chavez was far removed from his prime when he fought Oscar. The fact is he was the same age as Oscar is now and he only had one loss, a SD to Frankie Randall. Chavez did have many wars, probably more than Oscar, but he get old overnight and lost to ther younger faster fighter. PBF has not had a punishing career at all so I consider him much younger than Oscar even though he may not be as young as Oscar was when he fought Chavez. Oscar wasnt a huge favorite to beat Chavez either, but he did fairly easily. Im pullin for Oscar but I can help thinking he may have the same fate of Chavez.

It's a good point you make here, I think Chavez had a long career by then and a number of his fights were close hard fought wins. Oscar hasn't been that active recently and he really hasn't been beaten up by anybody. Oscar should be fine come May 5th although you never know with the age factor, fighters get old in just a few rounds sometimes. I think Oscar should retire when he wins this fight.

Chavez' level of competition ain't sh!t compared to what Oscar has stepped in the ring with. Both are overrated, but Chavez was WAY more overrated than DLH. Oscar would beat him down at any time in Chavez' career.

Good point fella. Thing is Floyd is giving up alot of weight in this fight, and he really hasnt fought anyone who is considerably bigger with classy boxing skills to go with it. Im very keen to see how Floyd takes a punch coz i fancy Oscer to test his chin.

I want the cocky smirk and arrogant attitude beaten out of Floyd.....he's a jackass!

The Mayweather's don't have good chins.....Floyd is human and Oscar can take punches and he can get punches off while being hit!

The weight advantage is HUGE and the sparring will be a big advantage for Oscar too. Floyd always comes in in shape but he has NEVER fought anyone like Oscar!!!!! Oscar has been in with ALL TIME GREATS and Floyd hasn't it's as simple as that

The irony is that if Mayweather wasn't so cocky and arrogant, he wouldn't have gotten under De La Hoya's skin (like he admitted), then the fight would not be happening considering De La Hoya vowed to never fight Mayweather so long as he was being trained by his father (who was technically still training him when the fight was made). Call him arrogant, cocky and a jackass all you want. While true, it got him the mega-fight he wanted so I guess you can call him smart, too.

I am telling people that Oscar has to come out smoking in round one to win this fight, but I get the feeling that even though Floyd is smaller, he might end up knocking Oscar out if Oscar becomes a punching bag about round 8 or so. The only thing in Oscar's favor is size. Big advantage there. Oscar has to find a way to use his size.. how would you guys suggest? I know the going thinking is Oscar's jab is landing and floyd will reach in and get countered with Oscar's hook, but Floyd looks like a guy who would be more open to a right hand than a hook, since a hook usually is harder to get in with a slick fighter. A right hand can land against a slick fight if the punch is long and has good leverage. Floyd can only duck so much and back up so much for a right hand.

I dont think Oscar is in the same way Chavez was when they fought Chavez had many more fights -wars whatever way more ware and tear! Im goingto be honest Oscar lookes great serious has more experence is handleing things very well. So is Floyd I really am having second thoughts but once at the weighin I'll know!I like Oscar's attuide very much and I do believe he is going to put Floyd to his biggest test yet! Im hoping Oscar wins but just have a questions about Oscar in the late rounds its the only thing that bothers me. I think he will addjust to Floyds speed by the 3d round something Floyds going to try to show right away but this is a twellve rounder if Oscar works the body and touches Floyd everytime hes in range he can win this fight. I haven't seen Oscar look this good in a long time and I really hope Oscar walkes into the weighin at weight and by fighttime weighs 153lbs and gets busy!

No way is ODLH in JCCs shoes.
The simple fact that JCC was nearing 100 fights IMO completely throws that theory out the window.

oscar makes his own shoes, chavez may had 100+ fights. but that was like couting even his sparring into his record. so?
