Basically it depends on what is actually going on in negotiations behind the scene, none of us can really know... If they actually have reason to believe that it is LIKELY Taylor will travel to the UK and fight him in September, then it's hard to say he's ducking Kessler because that fight will probably bring him more money and mass appeal.. However, if they are just clutching at straws and hoping for that fight to come off when realistically a Kessler fight is more makeable and could happen sooner then yes... It would seem Joe just doesn't want to fight him.

With kessler booked in to fight once this summer already Calzaghe at 35 can ill afford to wait until kessler is ready for another fight..so i think he needs to take the big fights while he still can and i think taylor is one of them

I take my last comment back...i just checked boxrec and Kessler's summer bout looks to have been cancelled. Personally i don't think Calzaghe is the type to duck anybody...and if he thinks he would get and easier fight from Taylor than he would Kessler then he would be in for a nasty suprise lol

Generally the most money comes from the biggest fights and toughest challenges anyways so it isn't a matter of choosing between the two... But for what it's worth, anyone is going to take the most money they can get one way or another.. Calzaghe may realize that Kessler is a bigger challenge and that many hardcore boxing fans would rather see the unification between the top 2 in one division.. But it's not hard to understand why Calzaghe would get just as much pride out of beating the man who dethroned Hopkins and drew with Winky Wright, as he would beating a guy who has looked the real deal but is untested against the best and holds little notoriety in the mainstream...

I dont see it as ducking. Its not like he's taking a fight with some bum. He'll be fighting the undisputed Middleweight champ. The Kessler fight can wait. Calzaghe probably senses his end soon so he wants a fat payday first.
