Default Quick question to those more knowlegeable then I... :)

Why was the Ref elliminated from having a say in the outcome of a fight.... The two Judge and ref desisions are gone...

    Just a quick question why...

    Thanks Brothers!

CC preciate it but funny thing is a friend of mine posed it to me after I said that a ref used to have a say but I had no answer to why it ended... I think it was a great thing... Cat is the closest to the action...

Well you would have to think it's just to alleviate some pressure from the referee. You want a ref to be focused at seperating fighters, looking for illegal blows, tape ect, not looking for clean punching and effective aggression.

I'm not sure why the system went the way it did bur it makes sense and it's not like it's hard to get 3 judges together. In England they still use the referee to score the fight a lot but in the U.S. it doesn't really happen. I'm sure it's a work of the commissions and TV networks to ensure better decisions because I know in the 40's there were quite a few referees paid off who scored the fight wrong. It's a lot easier to pay off 1 then 3.

Again these are just theories and maybe I'm off but it makes sense.

The main reason is that the Ref doesn't get to see thngs that we see from the outside...EG...in the wrong position he misses punches ect....second the ref is feared to show favortisim..(Because judges would NEVER do that )...

A lot of fights at domestic level in the Uk are decided by the ref. Not title fights mind.
