    Mauro Lucero 42-12-1 with 28 ko's...
Journey man with some decent wins but only fought once in 2006.

He's been working with Whitaker and Breland and it shows, the jab looks very good on him. That was a huge improvement after what I think was a lackluster outing his last time out. He showed no improvement, he showed lots tonight. He lead with the right from the outside entirely to much and it would just open him up so much for counters plus he couldn't get much off after this. And his jab was terrible in every fight previous. It was either too stiff, he threw it flatfooted or it came one at a time.

His jab just looked so good tonight, it's like he's been working with the jab his whole career. Very impressive showing. A lot of people were quick to jump off the wagon (I was never really on), but with the type of improvement he showed tonight, he'll be on the fast track to a title shot again soon.

I would love to see him fight Cintron.

CC IN 24 Mick. Dam he used the jab more in theis fight than in his last 5 fights combined! It was non existent before! Thats really good to see and coupled with his power,he could still be a force at 147. Him v Cintron would be a war,but I'd favour Kermit.

Julio has power theres no doubt about it and he's a promising fighter. Its just hard for me to get over the fact that A. he lost decisevly to Carlos Quintana who Coto destroyed and B. Cosme Rivera went 12 rounds with him recently who himself was destroyed in 3 rounds by Zab Judah. What does that say about Julio? What does that say about Julio's power? I don't know. At best it says that he is not near Judah or Cotto's level yet.

His jab was apparent here and thats good. Now can he do this with some top level contenders?

I agree he has won his last 4 fights but the competition of the last 3 weren't even on Cosme Rivera's kind of level

Amat, nice post. I'd be in one of the first 5 rows if Julio fought Cintron. They should make that fight happen asap.

    Agreed.
They haven't been but what they are trying to do here is bring up his confidence KO'ing journeymen is one way....
Next fight should be a prominent name....

He may not have been fighting the highest level opponents but that's not the important thing imo, the important thing is that he showed drastic improvement and added a whole new dimension to his game.
