He lost to Hopkins & Wright...you know that.

Sure he's fought 3 southpaws in a row...& he's been handed victories over them all...he's not earned a single one.

You would too if you were pretty much guaranteed a win as long as you stayed on your gotdam feet.

Taylor's borderline disgraceful & you know it. He stalls more than most 1980 Fords do.
I thought Taylor won the first Hopkins fight and Hopkins won the second. And I'd like to know where all the animosity and personal attacks on Taylor are coming from
I was a huge fan of Taylor's...seriously. HUGE!

Replay the Hopkins fight...the first one. Hopkins took his normal approach...mapped out Taylor & then got on him in the 7th & from the 8th to the 12th he rode Taylor hard.

Hopkins outlanded Taylor & landed the more effective shots.

Taylor won the second fight hands down...but not the first. HBO had the posters New Sherriff in Town printed up days before that fight was over. HBO's honey pot coulda been golden if he hadn't fallen prey to his own hype.

I just don't like what Taylor's become. If you backed a fighter & put all your hopes & prayers into him like I did Taylor...you'd maybe understand. Since you wanted to know where all the animosity and personal attacks on Taylor are coming from...that's why I have such a large amount of distaste for him.

    He's squandering his talent & potential & that's a fact.

As the middleweight champion of the world...he should act like it...or atleast try. I wanted to shut the fight down after the 4th round last night...that's unheard of from me.
Sorry Wacko, but I just see the two Taylor-Hopkins fights differently than you. And I think maybe it's not Taylor that's squandering away talent, but you who falsely believed he had talent he never had to begin with. I've seen virtually Taylor's entire career, and before the first Hopkins fight, saw nothing that lead me to believe he'd be able to beat Bernard. He's not great in a single area, just good. He also lacks power, people confuse power with strength, he has strength, but he has no power, only enough to gain his opponents respect, he will NEVER be a threat to take anyone out with a single punch, and furthermore, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes the rest of his career without scoring a knockout. He fights ugly, but he is effective in that he won't allow anyone (at least at 160 or lower) to CONVINCINGLY beat him. Even if you thought he lost to Wright and Hopkins, I hope you'd at least have enough sense to understand how 2 of 3 judges might honestly have seen it differently.
While you & I very rarely disagree...WE REALLY REALLY DO HERE.

Taylor's a great young fighter with MUCH talent that he's just not using. You don't fight all the fighters that he fought & remain undefeated with the talent & abilities that he has.

Also...you don't fight Wright & Hopkins & get through the matches without being a hell of a talented fighter. Honestly...I am amazed that you even stated that.

What amazes me more is this one: "Even if you thought he lost to Wright and Hopkins, I hope you'd at least have enough sense to understand how 2 of 3 judges might honestly have seen it differently."

Apparently I don't have sense...nor do I understand it...because the above statement totally made NO SENSE.

Judges MIGHT see it differently because they either are informed which fighter is the HONEY POT for whom they are getting paid to score & also...many judges don't even know how to add up a card.

In the end...even though I don't agree with the decisions...but in Taylor's defense...again, you don't fight Wright & Hopkins & get through the matches without being a hell of a talented fighter. Taylor just needs to get back to being who he was a few years ago.

Believe in yourself & get your confidence & old trainer back.
My statement that you didn't understand is that Taylor's greatest asset is that he fights ugly, in turn, his opponent will fight ugly, subsequently, his fights will be difficult to score. This is my entire point. This is what you may say I believe is his greatest 'talent' and to answer your question, yes, you CAN get through 3 consecutive fights with Hopkins and Wright and not be very 'talented.' Taylor's asset is his ability to lure opponents into lack luster fights, (ironically, alot like John Ruiz). So I guess I do agree with you that even though we almost always agree, we'll have to agree to disagree on this rare occasion I simply don't think the guy is all that talented.
Alright then...fair enough...again...I can see where you are coming from...I just don't agree.

I agree. He fought Winky when he did not have to and he fought Hopkins two times. He is not scared at all. Pavlik to me has not made that much noise to be regarded as being ducked. I figure Taylor will fight him next.

If I was taylor, I wouldn't give Miranda the time of day. The fight would be over with in the third round.

Default Miranda will win a world title

In his own little mind and in his fan's minds as well, lol

This guy sucks wind. Like I said, I had never heard of the guy until Friday when I partied with his camp but I know a good fighter when I see one and Miranda is not a good fighter.

You people like slugfest, which is what the Miranda-Plavik was, except the slugfest was all Plavik, lol, other than that one little lucky punch to nose that Pantera threw, lol.

I will keep up with him to see him lose more fights in the future, Don King wants no part of this guy, the money isn't there for him, lol.

Let Miranda keep fighting for Pesos, while Spinks, Plavik, and Taylor fight for dollars, lol

I agree with Wacko and some others that Taylor seems to have stalled a bit. The man has great athleticism and skill...but he seems like he cannot find that comfort zone or a particular style in the ring. In the early part of his career he used his fantastic jab...but in recent fights he goes into these stretches of not doing much. BUT...in his defense, it's not easy to look good against the lefties he has fought recently. He just needs to let loose...and that is why i actually think a fight against a guy like Miranda might be good for him. He need to fight someone who will bring the fight to him and bring the fight OUT of him. I don't think Miranda can beat him...but at least he will force Taylor to exchange and maybe bring out that fire in him. I haven't given up on him yet...but he definitely needs to step up and show his skills and heart in the ring.

I don't know what the hell Jermaine Taylor wants to do. It's unexplainable. If Robert Stack were still with us he would be talking about it on his show. "Did aliens abducted Jermain Taylor and replace him with an inept doppleganger while the real deal is doing battle in some interglactic gladiatorial game?"

I dont think he will fight him because their wasnt a top level purse involved with Miranda when he was still considered this up and coming steamroller that was gonna go right through the division. The money wasnt quite there before, it sure wont be now...Taylor will most likely fight Calzaghe, Wright or Pavlik all three before fighting Edison...which he might reconsider because if (as some boxing analysts have been saying) he likes fighting smaller, easier opponents, Edison would most likely be a pretty easy night for him. NOt that he's small but he has no defensive ability and a smarter fighter like Taylor would make mincemeat out of him without breaking a sweat probably.

Taylor said after his fight last night he will fight who brings the most money! That says it all right there who ever brings the most $$$$$. I dont see why they wouldnt make a fight with Pavlik and it should bring the most money. Pavlik vs Taylor should be a top notch fight unless Taylor just dont want to fight a boxer with a power punch.
