Thread: Has Jermain Taylor Fought A Big Puncher Yet ??

Hopkins Wright Ouma Spinks all good boxers but none of them are punches by any means it will be interesting to see how Taylor reacts to Pavliks bombs.

No he hasnt met a big hitter . When you look down his record , he has done pretty well to get this far without having to face someone dangerous .

I hope Kelly beats him by K.O and puts an end to this boring reign .

Yea lol i just replied to you anyway yea i respected Taylor a while ago but jeez its getting a bit silly lately with all these gifts i hear people saying opponents he has had have made him look bad but im wondering what type of opponent actually makes him look good

I hope Pavlik knocks him out atleast Pavlik will bring excitement to the table a Pavlik vs Calzaghe fight could be awesome.

Thats why Jermain will never be in a good fight . If he cant impose himself on smaller welterweights who run or guys that declare war on him then whats it guna take ? Jermianes era has been one of the worst in middleweight history in terms of excitememt . The two fights with Hopkins were debatable . The Winky fight was close but the Spinks fight was the biggest robbery of them all . That was just a travesty and as much as I think Spinks is a boring fighter , I reckon he should get another chance after that

Taylor just wants big bucks so im surprised he aint calling out Oscar . TBH I wouldnt be surprised to see Oscar or Floyd beat Taylor on points . Calzaghe - Taylor would have been a massacre if it happend and Pavlik will have the world behind him when they eventually meet . .if they do .

Hopkins was a very capable puncher, he had much crisper punches than Pavlik does, who's to say he didn't actually hit harder?.. Unless of course you've taken his shot and can say he doesn't pack a hell of a shot I don't see what reason there is to call him a light puncher..

Hopkins has respectable power he isn't hard hitter at all and even if he was some big puncher he didn't let Taylor know about it because Taylor never had his chin tested agaisnt Hopkins i think Pavlik constant pressure will give Taylor problems plus it will be interesting to see how Taylor takes a good whack off a power puncher like Pavlik.

Yes i really think JT needs to fight some of the dangermen to prove hes not a boring pick em by hand champ

I honestly reckon he wont want any part of a heavy puncher. However i think he will struggle much more with a high volume puncher ala Joe Calzaghe. Be interesting to see how he will cope against a high volume power puncher like Pavlik. I see him crumbling so long as Pavlik fights the same way he did against Miranda. I don't see Taylor discouraging him. Pavlik is going to be a big star.

I guess he has fought guys who are great boxers. I dont think he has ever fought a guy who can tear down a brick wall without tools like Pavlik can.I am completely sold that what "The Ring Magazine" sold as Pavlik being the hardest hitting guy in the middleweight division. He would probally be a considered heavy handed as a 168.
