    Bob, is boxing dying?

Arum: No, boxing is not dying. Boxing has learned a lesson from the UFC, and the lesson is that we have got to do a better job in presenting our product. There are promoters like Dan Goossen, Lou DiBella, and ourselves, and others who are aware of that, and we are going to change the way boxing is presented. The actual boxing matches, with fighters who fight -- there is nothing more thrilling, and nothing more exciting for a fan. We do not need any more businessmen fights. We do not need stuff where the fighters look at each other, because I mean, nobody wants to see that anymore. We do not need Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright. We do not need Jermain Taylor and Cory Spinks. We need Kelly Pavlic and Edison Miranda. We need Antonio Margarito and Paul Williams. We need fights, and we will present them the way they should be presented, and believe me, boxing will beat UFC or any of these mixed martial arts guys.

The day is Friday May 29th which is tommorrow.

I really wanna be there but $300 dlls. ringside seems like a little too much especially cause they haven't actually put the undecard together all they show is Andre Ward vs. TBA....
Guess It'll all depend on what kind of mood I wake up tommorrow.

Williams: When I fought in those classes, I was dropping weight real easy. So we thought we should go down in weight and see how that works. We went to 154 and I came in like at 152, so I moved down to 147, and it was real easy to make. Yes, I have plans of going back up after we get these belts in 147. I plan on moving up to 154, getting all the belts, then 160, and getting all those belts. The question about Margarito; I throw a lot of punches like he throws a lot of punches, so we are both going to be open for a lot of shots. I think he can give it, but I do not think he could take it.

The guy is going to be a force when he moves up!! Who the hell is going to beat him at 154?!

Good stuff Gamo. Can't wait to see Andre Ward on TV again, and see how he handles it. You'll see an improved product that is for sure. But I'm on edge nonetheless because I REALLY want him to do good.

If this was closer to me, I'd be there.

I wonder how either Margarito or Williams will respond to being backed up by the other. I think Paul is better suited for moving backwards and side to side, but it'll be interesting. That fight has me switching sides as much as Pavlik and Miranda did.

Thanks man. I don't know, you're right,it could be who is the more verstaile of the 2 and I think Paul can establish a jab and longer punches so I'd give the advantage to him there. I also think it will come down to who has the better chin, one may not get the chance to back the other up,they could jsut stand there on equal footing and bang each other out. All I know is both fighters are monsters and both deserve to be commended on taking this fight: PW for stepping and fighting Tony and Tony for fighting another dangerous hungry young fighter. IF Margarito wins,no one can deny him credit(although some here will manage to find a way )

I love this. There's not even any pretense of having any defense. (Johnny Cochran-ism totally unintended.)

I actually think Tony's defence is lsightly better than Pausl, this could be a key for Tony.

I am very excited about this fight. Both are high output fighters, and will get hit in order to land a punch of their own. It will be exciting and I cannot see this fight letting anyone down.

Its a pick 'em for me but Im going to give the edge to Williams. Physically he is a freak of nature, so rangey. Arguably he is still a bit green but he is on the rise. He will either shine or get beaten down, I like to think the former...

Im sure El Gamo is glad ive made my pick though!!

Ahh but Miles also said he thought Williams would EITHER shine or be beaten down.... Which means there is little probability of either happening... You can now expect a much closer competitive fight in which neither fighter excels, which just gives ammunition to those looking to take credit away from your boy if he wins
