Default Another one of my Ricky Hatton threads!

Right thoughts of Ricky are coming more and more to me and how he is going to approach this fight with JLC. This fight IMO is the biggest fight to be made at 140 at will certainly be his hardest fight since KT, so will we see a better Ricky for this one?

What are your views on the future for Ricky? If he wins, me being me wants to see some BIG fights at 147! Cotto, Williams, Margarito, Floyd or Mayweather would be the fights he should be surely eyeing? I want to see some true risks being taken if he beats JLC, which in itself is a big risk. But atleast he is doing it and thats why I want to see more of, dont you agree with that?

I dont want to see Ricky winning this fight in true good fashion and then staying at 140 brushing these prospects up, which don't have a true name yet! Looking at 140 now I really dont Ricky staying there at all, I want to see him going back to 147, re-matching LC if he gets a solid win and fighting for a world title at 147 against a TRUE champion!

I want to see some good views, I know people talk about the advantages etc at 140, but do you people not want to see some true grit!? Post views please.

tbh tam i havenever bought into the ricky hatton hype train

i got a shit load of mates whothink he is the bees knees... i feel out ofplace sometimes when debating boxing with people my own age in my local coz they think ricky is something special... whislt i see nothing special about him...

he honstly pisses me off... he shits on his fans the way he lets him self drop inbtween fights..

i gotalotof time forcastillo the way he used to fight, the never ay die attitude.. but he was a "very good fighter" his last fight was nothiing to shout about.. ricky done well on domestic terms but when he stepped up he was nothing great

he beat the tunder, fair enough, but he hadn't fought in what? 2years +? personally an i willalways argue this light welter is a weight ricky should be fighting at the end of his carrer... if he kept in ture shape he would be fighting at 135...

the castillo fight, unill JLC shows he is in fantastic style i wont give ricky much credit... and this is from a guy who loves his home town fighters

I dont see were hes going wrong though?

The fight with Maussa he was dominant and stopped him!

Fight with LC was close and at a new weight and he greatly underestimated him, but still got the nod

True domination over JU on my card only lost one round!

The fight in which JLC isnt going to be easy, but Ricky will obviously focus a lot harder on this fight and i think he is capable of fighting at 147 and being a champ, just hope he beats JLC.

I can see were you are coming from but i think Ricky has had tough fight but at the end of the day, he has still won right? I think we will see a good fight with JLC.

i agree tam in the snese that at the end of the day a win is a win...
again he beat this shit out of maussa, where as people said about him fighting vivan, vivan lost to mausa.. i still will dfend ricky for taking some good fights as in maussa.. alot thougth harris wuld beat him, he wnates harris but he last to beat the guy who beat him...

but looking outside the box... hatton has never beatean a proved fighting in their prime... sure he has been unlucky..had vivan ahrris beaten maussa without trouble hatton would of beaten a respected fighter.. but harris lost... had gatti come through baldimor (a fight he was 2-1 on for winning (a fight i won alot of money on haha)) he would of fought and beaten gatti but again another one fighter that would of furteher him lost...

i don'thate hatton by any means... i just get pissed off with him... he, even now is fighting at the wrong weight... whislt he has gone to the us to prove his worth, he would of been bettr of fighting proven guys rather tahn named fighters..

Thats why i think he needs to fight at 147, these guys well cotto, williams and margarito imo are in thier primes and all 3 would make exciting fights for sure!

Tam, Alll those Welters you mentioned are big and strong guys who weigh in close to middleweight the night of the fight.... Ricky is best suited at 140 the only way he shold move up is to fight Floyd at 147 as a big payday throw caution to the wind and dethrone the best in the world and even then he dosent stand a chance in hell.... I like Ricky but a move to 147 with the big boys wont end well for him.... He got a highly disputed desicion against Colazzo, the big boys would sort him out quite badly

Why dont we see how hw fairs against JLC before wemake grandiose 147 plans for Hatton

I really don't like to say this when it comes to a persons opinion but i think you are wrong here tam..

whislt there is no odubt better names at 147 ricky is would be well out of his depth there...

pfp ricky is better than collazo, but the size and reatch of collazo was to much for him at 147, te likes of flod, shane, even oscar if he dropped down would be way to much for ricky to overcome..
not wanting to sound likea broken record but if he kept in shape ibetween fights he could easlily make lighweifght and would in no way look weight drained in doing so...

whislt many will slate ricky for not giving collazo a ematch, he was right in dropping down... he wa sway out of his doetch in weight terms because of hs out of ring life he wasn't mismatched, but in boxing terms he was well out of his weight range and that fight showed..

people underestimate the highet advantage rather than the 'weight range' imo

Ricky would make 135 He debuted as an 18 year old kid over 140lbs, he has never been a 135 lb fighter, he does let himself go thats not effecting his ability to make weight though, i dont understand all these people like you who question his weight?? He has made weight everytime he has fought, whats happening now is his lifestyle seems to be catching him up in terms of doing 12 three minute rounds.

I just think it will be an exciting battles with those top guys at 147, even if he lost i would prefer to see that, than him dominating 140!

His fight at the end of the day at 147 wasnt a failure, he just had a close on but still won....

I think we just needed to see more of him at 147, it was his first ever time there against a tough and fully motivated champ and on the night this wasnt the case for Ricky.

I'll give another opinion after JLC but i really am firm on him moving back up!

Lets hope so too, but I really dont think the competiton level at 140 will be as high for RH, compared with the guns at 147, i just want him to get back there to be honest.
