    Default Joe's (greynotsoold) Boards/posts

Since the board was closed because grey is no longer with us the topics that there have been lost, but not all of them... I've been able to save several of the lost topics via Google's catched files, and I'll post them here for all who are interested.

While he was here he often went by the book but had a lot of insight that can only come from experience and a deeper perspective from being a student of the sweet science. Although he is no longer here his posts will remain to educate and help us understand many of the elements that make up boxing.

For anyone that is interested in the book that he often referred to it's Edwin L. Haislet - Boxing, it's a very detailed book underlining many of the moves and sequences that can be put to use by a good boxer. If anyone's interested in it you should check out your local libraries or used book stores, and if not you can just leave me a message and I'll give you a link in which you can download it.

I don't mean to flood the board and I apologize for anybody's posts that were pushed down. Feel free to read the posts and use it as a springboard to add more to the topics.

There's a lot of good topics and ideas on the board but occasionally they get lost when the board crashes, or sometimes they are accidentally deleted. Therefore I'm working to save all the useful posts so that I put them in a more permanent spot.

Thanks gally, I'm glad to have put them back up. Anyways there were others that are lost, and I wish that I had copied them when I had the chance. A lot of it was from the book he drew from, but much more was his own contributions. One post that I'd like to read again is The 'Feeling out Round" I remember a lot of the ideas such as feinting, cacthing his jab, observations, feeling his strength in a clinch, but how I'd love to have it right here in my hands just once more.

I'm not sure what happened to grey. I emailed him a couple months ago but I got no reply. I can only assume the worst, as he said it himself he has been struggling with his health. He's also has had a couple operations last year and the last time I saw him online was just before the new year. He was a very kind guy, no doubt about it he knew his stuff and he loved to share it with others. I guess where ever he is right now he's doing what he loves the most, teaching boxing.

Sure, I'll send you the book. If any of you are interested in some good reads then I'll post a few books on this board. I've found a good book on fitness and boxing by the legendary Bob Fitzsimmons, a good book on boxing history by Mike Donovan, an excellent autobiography written by Georges Carpentier, and a few boxing manuals, books, and articles.

He gave text-book descriptions and he really knew what he was talking about. I hope he's still kicking and just incommunicado when comes to around here. It's been a nice ride, I saw him on Larry Holmes' Message board before he came here, he was just as informative and generous over there as he was over here. Where ever he's at he still has his love and passion for boxing, and the people that he has touched. I feel like I'm making a toast or something, I hope this isn't a eulogy. He was awesome, a nice guy all around. I'll miss him a lot.

I just hope I don't lose track on the people that I can stay in touch with. I find that a lot of important people are gone before I could speak my mind to them. Your love and prayers to go out the people that you miss, and your attention and respect for those that you are with.

Anyways I'll work on getting those books out some time in the near future. I'm really surprised how much attention this has gotten, it shows me that you people care, and I'm really glad for that.

i came across the jack dempsey manual on piratebay and ill seed it for a couple of days if anyone wants to grab it(i havent had time to read it but it is really well respected in boxing circles and the oriinal uploaders description of it make it like a really good read)

Grey's posts are awesome. There should be a sticky with links to all of the threads you posted, so his knowledge will be easily accessible (after they're all off the first page of course).

I'm working on that among other things. I also want to keep a copy of all the useful posts from this board so they don't become lost. So far we've lost posts from 2003-2005 as well as many other instances.
