yup these fights will lead to possibly even bigger fights in 2008...
welterweight, supermiddleweight, and heavyweights could all have new undisputed unfied world champs with more megafights in 2008..

taylor and pavlik is moving up to SMW to go with kessler and calzghe possibly winky..

welterweight is going to explode next year after all the 2007 fights

heavyweights are going to have a unified champ, the winner of the v klitchko-peter-maskaev, and w klitchko in what could be the best year for heavys in a decade overall i think boxing is looking up

If Floyd signs to fight hatton then this is the best way to go for miguel cotto..

Not only does he not fight floyd.. it means that its more then likely hatton and floyd only fight that one more fight this year..

Which leaves a unification with tony a likelyhood.. and the likes of cintron is a great target for miguel..

Its just deciding whats going on with the wbc as mosely will have to face the number one contender to decide a champion as he is the interim champion

Definetly these fights are just what boxing needs. It seems I look forward to a big fight then another one that is just as mouth watering is in the pipeline. If these fights come off I will be a very happy boxing fan

    Yeah.

I'd add Diaz-Freitas and Earl-Katsidis to that list as well. I really enjoyed those fights. While Earl-Katsidis isn't huge, it was an amzing fight.

Taylor-Spinks was the worst fight of the year, with Sultan-Briggs a close second.

i agree hatton isnt getting any better, but cotto is...

cotto can fight margo then cintron just like you said.. i would stay away from mosely then go after winner of hatton-mayweather in 2008 it will be a bigger fight for him... and he will be better

Totally agree with the Earl/Katsidis fight it was a hum dinger of a battle. Earl took so many clean shots but just kept going, I even thought he was gonna come back and win it at one point. I had forgot about that one!!

Ah sorry guys I mesread the question. I thought it said would Hatton Mayweather or Calzaghe Kessler be the best fight of the decade and immediately voted no but then saw that you actuall were asking if this would make 2008 the best boxing year of the last decade, and to that I would probably agree.

My bad, is it possible for a mod to remove my neg vot and allow me to give a thumbs up instead?

I say it would. The biggest complaint about boxing is that the fights people really wanna see never happen. If floyd/hatton comes off, you know there's gonna be huge opportunites for the winner in the following year (namely cotto). Calzaghe-Kessler would shut up all the people who are constantly asking for it and the winner probably has a shot at fighting winky or an aging hopkins. These fights could only lead to bigger and better things.

i agree... the biggest ingredient to big fights is preceeding big fights..

which is why i want all these fights to go on...

it could make 2007 the best year in a decade and in return make 2008 as good or better.. if 2009 continues the trend i think we could all say the slide is over...

    AND BOXING IS BACK!!!

we can add pac-man vs. barrera II to the list..

now that golden boy and top rank has its lawsuits behind them and they want to leave it behind them by all accounts... they are going to start promoting many more bouts in the next couple of years..

2007 and '08 is looking better and better
