Obviously a fan huh legend? I dont feel personally that PBF is yet in the Top ten ATG'S. But i do feel (AS MUCH AS I DISLIKE HIM) that floyd has all the essential attributes to be right up there with SRR, Armstrong, Pep, etc.
Floyd's main detractor from holding this throne however, is ironically himself his team and his family. As the world's current best p4p boxer Mayweather understandably receives his fair share of media attention, how much of this attention has mayweather used to endear himself to his fans? SRR, Armstrong, Ali, Pep....these were all "the good guys." The boxing public liked their respective persona's and subsequently desired them to be victorious. Mayweather is the bad guy. 85% of people interested in boxing want him to lose (i'd jump to 90% for the hatton fight.) As a result of being the bad guy he not only has fans salivating over his demise but he also creates a lot of begrudgery over his p4p claim. People attempt to place more amiable likeable Pacquiao ahead of him in the rankings altho he obviously is an inferior fighter (i'm sorry it had to be said.)
It also doesn't help his cause as he allegedly retires as the biggest fights of his career loom on the horizon or that he seems to be entirely motivated by money.
So in summation, i think YES Mayweather is a potential ATG, the best of our time, But NO people will not remember him as an ATG as he simply has not earned enough respect to compensate for his demeanour.

there was a point in time in boxing when those who can knock their opponents are considered better than those who win through running. I'd say, skill and speed is lacking without the knock out power.Originally Posted by hitmandonny

I can tell by most of your posts that you probably haven't heard of either of these guys I've mentioned, but trust me...... they were pretty good
For the record.................
Hitting + not getting hit back = boxing (not running)
To me there is no such thing as best boxer ever. There are only best fighters from a generation/era.Originally Posted by legend30
