Thread: Is Hatton better than Castillo was at Lightweight

Hatton may not of broken his ribs but he certainly broke his heart. Castillo was always a little one dimensional and was ideal stylistically for Hatton to shine against. For my money Hatton beats any incarnation of Castillo and pound for pound he's the more rounded fighter with greater career achievements.

Castillo ribs were never broken. It was just something made up by a Hatton groupie

I read that in a few articles after Ricky said it on TV might be false. Anyway here is a quote from Castillo himself about the body shot.

Thats one about the ribs

Castillo gave a short interview on Telefutro (Spanish TV) a couple of weeks after the Hatton fight saying he was okay and was undecided about his future. He said he was sore but was other wise fine. If Castillo's ribs were really broken it would of been heard about every where

Who knows if they were broke? maybe your right we would know more about it if so.
You only have to look at the shot to figure out why he could not get to his feet. I reckon that body shot would have dropped a LOT of guys.

A prime Castillo could have taken that shot. He looked quite fleshy in the Hatton fight and he was moving up away from his best division. He had weight trouble in the last two Corrales fights and he wasn't himself in the fight before Hatton. If we had a prime v prime fight i think it would be a real brutal affair and i have to say it would be a coin toss as to whom would come out victorious. 100% it would go longer than 4 rounds tho.

certain body shots like the one hatton happened to land on castillo will take out most any fighter, doesn't matter if they're in their absolute prime or past their best.

You must of not seen Castillo-Corrales 1. He took some brutal shots. Including some to the body

You must of not seen Castillo-Corrales 1. He took some brutal shots. Including some to the body

Seen it lots of times and no BODY SHOTS he took compares.

sorry i wasn't very clear, it was a good body shot but how of it was down to the conditioning of Castillo? If he would have been riped and in peak physical condition would he have gone down? Sure it would have hurt him but would it have KOed him?

I'll give you that! No doubt Castillo was great against PBF in fight 1 and the Corrales fights were incredible. Just give the Fatboy some time and he will live up to expectations.

Most believe that Hatton will go after Floyd in a very similar fashion to the way Castillo did in their first fight. Many have said in other threads that Floyd has learned from that fight and is a better fighter.

Here we are having a debate on whether or not Hatton is better than the lightweight version of Castillo and the debate is split down the middle.

So my question is obvious. How will Hatton beat Floyd?

He will do what he does best and what has got him this far. Theres no deceptive stratagem in this one and what you see is what you get. The only question that is yet unanswered pertains to the horsepower that Hatton has at his disposal. Guile and ring craft is not really his forte and he doesn't possess the ability to execute pressure whilst remaining elusive unlike Duran against DeJesus in their third encounter.
