Default 90s vs 2000s WW Semifinal Rematch Pernell Whitaker vs Shane Mosley

First off, sorry for the delay. Was enjoying my Labor Day Weekend under the sun at the beach sitting on the hot sand and no computer in sight, just like I like it

I noticed that we had a tie. That just won't do. Lets do it again.

Last time these two fighters faced we had a tacticall battle to the end. Round after round the momentum would shift. It finally ended and the judges had it a draw.

The first one was a chessmatch, this time they promissed a war....

i went for prenell, but shit i think this could be one of the closest boxing matchs in the history of the game...

both fantastic boxers... so so hard to call i think... they could fight numerous times and have a different outcome i don't think its a clear cut pernell wins every time.

I think Mosley's speed and size would be too much for Whitaker.

I'm always confused when people cite Mosley's power, considering that he hasn't KO'd anyone in over 6 years besides the decrepit corpse of Fernando Vargas.

Mosley has never been a dangerous puncher above lightweight.

I pick Mosley at Lightweight and Whitaker at Welterweight in what would be a tremendous matchup.
Apart from the fights with DLH, Mosley has not made much of an impact at the higher weights, Whitaker would still prove to elusive at 147lb. Come to think of it, i might change my mind i think he might beat Mosley at Lightweight too!

Mosley fought a lot of guys with good chins Winky, Oscar, Forrest, etc. He hurt Winky when Winky lowered his hands. He rocked Oscar a number of times. Mosley's still had plenty of power above lightweight. I am not saying his power would have ko'ed Whitaker whats I am saying is that he has the power to make Whitaker really respect him. When somebody is hitting you before you can react which has never happened before and he is getting good power behind those punches it makes you a lot more gun shy. After countering Whitaker's jab a few times with hard right hands I think Whitaker would get more hesitant to throw his jab(his best punch IMO), and then Mosley would be able to beat WHitaker to the punch. THis is the one reason why I Think PBF does better than WHitaker in this situation and why he did better against ODLH is because he was faster.

At welterweight, I'd pick Pernell all day long.

But if this was to ever happen at lightweight, I'd go with Mosley.

Pernell was one of the greatest lightweights of all time, but Shane Mosley was a step above Pernell at lightweight

As a southpaw, Whitaker always slid to his right while jabbing, which is why he never got hit with counter rights.

I duno, I think PBF did better because PBF is in his prime. Whitaker wasn't in his prime when he fought Oscar. A prime Whitaker would've dominated Oscar, most people feel the old Pernell beat Oscar anyway.

I can't believe it. Another draw. What are the odds of that.

Whitaker was only 33. I don't think Whitaker in his prime would have dominated even the version of Oscar that he fought. Oscar was a little green against Whitaker who was the first great boxer(near his prime) that Oscar had faced to that point. I think Oscar was much better later on in his career especially in defending against the jab. I also think if Whitaker wouldn't have used so much footwork which Mayweather opted not to use in beating Oscar it would have been a much tougher fight for Pernell.

As for Mosley countering the jab I think if he sliped the jab which he had the reflexes to do I say he could get in and hit WHitaker moving right or not. Sure their feet would get tangled sometimes, but I still think he would have countered Pernell quite a bit.
